Job Title: Maintenance Technician
Job Description
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment within our facility to ensure production runs smoothly and efficiently. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, this role is critical for minimizing downtime and ensuring the facility remains operational at all times.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on all machinery and equipment as per the schedule to prevent breakdowns and ensure smooth operation.
- Inspect machines regularly for signs of wear or inefficiency and perform necessary adjustments, lubrication, and component replacements.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic system issues on production and packaging equipment.
- Perform repairs and part replacements as needed, ensuring timely completion to minimize production downtime.
- Assist with the installation of new machinery, equipment, and systems under the guidance of the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Support the Maintenance Supervisor and engineering team in upgrading equipment and improving plant processes for increased efficiency.
- Ensure that all maintenance work is conducted in compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and food safety standards.
- Participate in safety and food safety training programs and follow best practices in equipment maintenance to ensure a safe working environment.
- Document all repair and maintenance activities to ensure compliance with GFSI and other food safety standards.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance tasks, inspections, repairs, and parts replacement in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Report equipment performance issues and operational inefficiencies to the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Communicate effectively with team members and production staff about equipment status and any potential issues.
- Work closely with other maintenance technicians, the maintenance supervisor, and production staff to ensure timely responses to maintenance requests.
- Assist in cross-functional teams, including production and quality, to troubleshoot and improve equipment performance.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize equipment operation and reduce downtime.
Essential Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in a related field is preferred.
- 2+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in food production.
- Strong mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with the operation and maintenance of production equipment, such as conveyors, ovens, mixers, and packaging machines.
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and CMMS software.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and food safety regulations (GFSI, HACCP, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Technical certification or associate degree in a related field is preferred.
