Job Title: Quality Control Technician
Job Description
The Quality Control Technician is responsible for conducting in-process quality testing to ensure compliance with FDA regulations. This role involves verifying the accuracy of labels, testing fill weights, lot codes, expiration dates, leakers, label placement, foreign material, and shipping labels. Additionally, the technician will submit samples to the QC Chemistry and QC Microbiology labs for testing hourly, following the lab schedule. The position requires closing paperwork and submitting reports, including weight averages and batch record reviews, in an FDA-regulated facility.
Responsibilities
- Conduct in-process quality testing and verify accuracy of labels following FDA regulations.
- Test for fill weight, lot codes, expiration dates, leakers, label placement, foreign material, and shipping labels.
- Submit samples to QC Chemistry and QC Microbiology labs for testing hourly.
- Complete and submit paperwork and reports, including weight averages and batch record reviews.
- Monitor all non-conforming products and have the authority to stop production if products fail quality testing.
- Assist the team in root cause analysis and investigations.
Essential Skills
- Strong math skills, including ability to perform calculations and percentages.
- Attention to detail, capable of identifying mistakes and recognizing issues.
- Ability to work independently, make judgment calls and decisions.
- Collaborative skills to work effectively as part of a large Quality Control team.
- Knowledge of GMP and/or FDA regulations is preferred.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High School Diploma required.
- Previous experience in quality control within a production/manufacturing environment is a plus, but not required.
- Willingness to work overtime.
- Bilingual Spanish is a plus but not mandatory.
Work Environment
The position operates within a GMP regulated production environment. The working hours are 2nd shift Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturdays when production runs. There is ample opportunity for overtime throughout the week.
