Job Description
The Carpentry Technician cuts, shapes, and installs building materials, primarily wood, to support the construction and finishing of a wide range of structures. This role combines traditional rough carpentry, such as framing and structural work, with more detailed tasks that may include cabinet making and furniture-style finishes. The technician uses a variety of hand tools and construction methods to ensure safe, accurate, and durable installations.
Responsibilities
- Cut, shape, and install wood and other building materials according to project specifications and drawings.
- Perform rough carpentry tasks, including framing walls, floors, roofs, and other structural components.
- Assist in constructing buildings, ships, and other wooden structures using established construction techniques.
- Measure, mark, and prepare materials to ensure precise cuts and accurate assembly.
- Use hand tools and basic power tools safely and effectively for cutting, fastening, and finishing work.
- Install and secure structural and non-structural components in alignment with quality and safety standards.
- Support finer carpentry tasks such as cabinet making and furniture-style detailing when required.
- Inspect completed work for accuracy, structural integrity, and adherence to project requirements.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition.
- Hands-on experience in construction and carpentry work.
- Proficiency in rough carpentry, including framing and structural assembly.
- Ability to use hand tools confidently and safely for cutting, shaping, and installing materials.
- Strong understanding of basic construction methods and carpentry techniques.
- Ability to read and follow measurements, markings, and layout instructions accurately.
- Attention to detail to ensure precise fits, clean finishes, and structurally sound work.
- Capability to work safely on active construction sites and around tools and materials.
- Exposure to cabinet making or furniture building is an advantage.
- Experience working on a variety of structures, such as buildings or ships, is beneficial.
- Ability to adapt to both rough and more detailed carpentry tasks as project needs change.
- Willingness to learn new carpentry techniques and follow established best practices.
- Strong work ethic and reliability in meeting project timelines and quality standards.

Work Environment

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Brownsburg, IN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $23.00 - $27.00/hr.
