This role focuses on installing, modifying, and performing advanced troubleshooting on a wide range of food processing and packaging equipment, with a strong emphasis on packaging machines and wrappers. The maintenance technician supports reliable production by performing preventative and predictive maintenance, fabricating parts as needed, and working closely with production staff to support new product introductions in a clean, regulated environment.
Responsibilities- Install, modify, and perform advanced troubleshooting on food processing and packaging equipment, with a focus on packaging machines and wrappers.
- Perform preventative and predictive maintenance procedures, including identifying equipment failure modes and determining appropriate corrective actions.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues on automated machinery to minimize downtime and maintain efficient operations.
- Work closely with production staff to understand and develop machine requirements for new product introductions.
- Install electrical equipment and components in accordance with safety and operational standards.
- Perform a variety of welding tasks, including MIG, TIG, braze, and arc welding, and operate a cutting torch as needed.
- Operate a variety of machine tools to fabricate or modify parts required for equipment repair and improvement.
- Apply Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in all maintenance activities within a food packaging environment.
- Provide leadership on the floor by supporting best practices, helping coordinate tasks, and promoting safe and efficient work methods.
- Document maintenance activities, repairs, and adjustments to support continuous improvement and equipment reliability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve equipment performance and support process optimization.
- Support third-shift operations by responding to maintenance requests and ensuring equipment is ready for production.
- Experience in a GMP or contract packaging environment, particularly in food packaging operations.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience maintaining and repairing packaging machinery and automated equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and diagnose automated machinery, specifically packaging machines and wrappers.
- Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills applicable to production and packaging equipment.
- Leadership experience in a maintenance, production, or related operational setting.
- Experience with packaging, food processing, or automation equipment.
- Ability to perform MIG, TIG, braze, and arc welding and safely operate a cutting torch.
- Ability to operate machine tools to fabricate or modify parts as required.
- Comfort working on third shift (10:00 PM 6:30 AM) with flexibility to work overtime as needed.
- Bilingual skills, particularly the ability to speak Spanish, are a plus.
- Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in a clean, regulated food packaging environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with production and maintenance teams.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work orders, and document maintenance activities accurately.

Work EnvironmentThis position is based in a clean, Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) environment that focuses on packaging food products. The facility is very clean and temperature regulated, providing a comfortable and controlled setting for maintenance and production activities. You will work on third shift from 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM, starting Monday nights and finishing Saturday mornings, with an expectation of approximately 8 hours of overtime per week, which may include working on Saturdays. The role involves working with food packaging equipment, automated machinery, welding tools, and machine tools in a structured production environment. The dress code includes wearing a work uniform and hair nets, and no jewelry is allowed to maintain safety and product integrity.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $62400.00 - $79040.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
