Job Title: Electrical Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead the design, development, implementation, and support of electrical control systems for mobile drilling equipment. This role involves developing next-generation controls architecture, troubleshooting complex electrical systems, supporting production and field service teams, and driving continuous product improvement initiatives. The position requires a hands-on engineer with a strong experience in low-voltage mobile equipment electrical systems, CAN-based communications, and electro-hydraulic controls.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain 12V and 24V electrical control systems for mobile drilling and construction equipment.
- Create and revise electrical schematics, harness drawings, wiring diagrams, and system documentation.
- Assist with the development, review, and implementation of controller logic using Codesys and related control platforms.
- Support CAN Bus network design, diagnostics, and integration across electrical subsystems.
- Collaborate with mechanical and hydraulic engineers to develop integrated electro-hydraulic control systems.
- Investigate electrical system failures and conduct root-cause analyses on equipment issues in manufacturing and field environments.
- Partner with production teams to implement and troubleshoot electrical systems during assembly and testing.
- Provide technical support to service technicians and customers regarding electrical and controls-related issues.
- Maintain accurate engineering records, schematics, change documentation, and design standards.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Discipline (Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology preferred).
- 5+ years of electrical engineering experience with 12V–24V electrical systems in a production-based industrial manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of CAN Bus/CAN communications.
- Strong experience in designing and troubleshooting electrical control systems, wiring harnesses, sensors, relays, actuators, and control components.
- 5+ years of experience reading and supporting PLC/controller logic and electrical schematics.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working with Codesys (Controls Development System).
- Experience within mobile equipment manufacturing.
Work Environment
The company is a third-generation family-owned business located in Downtown Indianapolis, known for manufacturing their brand of drilling rigs and equipment. Work hours are from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM ET, Monday through Friday, with potential for overtime. The engineering team consists of six members, working in a fast-paced design and manufacturing environment. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $52.88 - $58.69/hr.
