Job Title: Project Surveyor


Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Surveyor to join our team in Indianapolis. This position will involve performing a variety of surveying tasks, including topographic surveys, easement work, and structural measure downs. As a Project Surveyor, you will work closely with licensed surveyors and project managers to collect and analyze data, ensuring accurate and timely completion of surveying projects. The role will predominantly be field-based, utilizing advanced Trimble equipment and software for data collection and processing.


Responsibilities

  • Assist and perform topographic surveys to gather elevation and boundary data for development projects.
  • Collaborate with the Survey Manager on easement work, including identifying and documenting property boundaries and rights-of-way.
  • Perform structural measure downs and provide detailed measurements and documentation for various structures such as manholes and inlets.
  • Prepare field notes, data, and photos for review by licensed surveyors and project teams.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other professionals to support project requirements.
  • Assist in supporting other offices with surveys.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of field experience operating and performing surveys, with crew chief experience.
  • Ability to independently perform surveying tasks.
  • Experience processing survey field data and ensuring accuracy in Civil 3D drawings.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to travel to project sites and stay overnight if needed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience creating surfaces in Civil 3D is a significant advantage.
  • Proficiency in using Trimble Business Center, AutoCAD, and/or Civil 3D.

Work Environment

This position is primarily field-based, working Monday through Friday, typically 40-45 hours per week. Occasionally, the schedule may be Monday through Thursday, with 10-hour days depending on project needs. The role includes both one-person and two-person crew operations. Travel expenses, including mileage, hotel, and per diem, are provided for project sites over 80 miles from the home office. The work environment is supportive and collaborative, with opportunities for growth, excellent compensation plans, and unique projects focusing on utility projects rather than heavy transportation.
