Job Description
The Mechanical Assembly Technician works in a manufacturing environment assembling machine components according to detailed prints and standard operating procedures. This role involves hands-on mechanical work using hand and power tools, collaborating with a team to build subassemblies, and coordinating with material handlers to ensure all required parts are available. The position requires consistent, high-quality assembly of components that typically take 45 minutes to one hour to complete, along with the physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Responsibilities
- Assemble machine components by accurately following mechanical prints and standard operating procedures.
- Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to build and secure components.
- Work collaboratively within a team to build different subcomponents and complete larger assemblies.
- Coordinate with material handlers to identify, pick, and stage all necessary parts for each build.
- Verify that assembled components meet quality and specification requirements before moving to the next stage.
- Follow written and verbal instructions carefully to ensure correct assembly and workflow.
- Handle and lift parts and assemblies weighing up to 50 pounds as part of daily tasks.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to support safety and efficiency.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and shop floor procedures while operating tools and equipment.
- Manage time effectively so that components, which typically take 45 minutes to one hour to build, are completed within expected timeframes.
- At least 2 years of assembly or mechanical experience, such as building cars or working in a mechanical trade.
- Proven mechanical aptitude and comfort working with mechanical components.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical prints and follow detailed directions.
- Experience using hand tools and power tools in an assembly or mechanical environment.
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures and written instructions accurately.
- Capability to lift and move up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure assemblies meet specifications.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a manufacturing setting.
- Experience assembling mechanical equipment or machinery in a production environment.
- Familiarity with reading prints, diagrams, or work instructions in a manufacturing context.
- Comfort working with a variety of mechanical fasteners, fittings, and components.
- Basic understanding of safe tool operation and shop safety practices.
- Reliable attendance and willingness to work overtime when needed.

Work Environment
This role is based in a manufacturing facility with a clean shop environment. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with the possibility of staying late during the week and working approximately four hours on occasional Saturdays; there is no work on Sundays. Employees can expect to work about 5 to 10 hours of overtime per week, depending on production needs. The facility uses fans for air circulation but is not fully climate controlled, so temperatures may vary with the seasons. The work involves regular use of hand tools and power tools at an assembly workstation, along with frequent lifting of components up to 50 pounds.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
