Job Description
This role supports a high-volume weld department by assembling steel components and assisting welders with daily production. You will handle parts, use basic tools to assemble products, and contribute to meeting production goals of 80–200 parts per day. Over time, you will have the opportunity to learn welding skills and grow into a welder within the department.
Responsibilities
- Assist welders in the weld department with daily assembly tasks to support high-volume production.
- Handle and position steel components and parts in preparation for welding and final assembly.
- Use hand tools and basic equipment to assemble products according to established procedures.
- Help ensure production targets of 80–200 parts per day are met while maintaining quality standards.
- Follow written and verbal instructions, including basic blueprints or work instructions when provided.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to support safety and efficiency.
- Perform general labor tasks such as loading, packaging, and packing finished parts as needed.
- Visually inspect parts and assemblies for defects or issues and report concerns to the appropriate personnel.
- Stand for the duration of the shift and safely lift boxes and components up to 40 lbs throughout the day.
- Demonstrate consistent, reliable attendance to support team and production schedules.
- Participate in learning opportunities within the department with the goal of developing welding skills over time.
- Strong desire to learn welding and grow into a welder role in the future.
- Proven reliability and consistent attendance in previous roles.
- Ability to stand on your feet for the duration of the shift.
- Ability to safely lift up to 40 lbs repeatedly throughout the shift.
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with mechanical components and production equipment.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment.
- Attention to detail when handling parts, using tools, and performing assembly tasks.
- Willingness to perform production, assembly, general labor, and packaging duties as needed.
- Comfort using hand tools and working around industrial equipment.
- Ability to follow basic instructions, including simple blueprints or diagrams when required.
- Experience or comfort in automotive industry or automotive assembly environments is beneficial.
- Experience working with hand tools in a production, assembly, or general labor setting is a plus.
- Previous experience in automotive assembly or the automotive industry is preferred but not required.
- Experience with loading, packing, and packaging tasks in a manufacturing environment is helpful.
- Familiarity with reading and understanding simple blueprints or work instructions is an advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality and safety.
- Interest in long-term career growth within a weld or manufacturing department.

Work Environment
This is a high-volume manufacturing environment in a weld department where you will work closely with welders and other production staff. You will handle steel components, use hand tools, and perform assembly tasks on your feet for most of the shift. The role involves frequent lifting of up to 40 lbs and working at a steady, fast pace to meet production goals. Available schedules include a first shift from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and a weekend shift on Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with an attendance incentive for perfect weekend attendance. The facility offers three breakrooms, an on-site gym, and an on-site health clinic for employees and eligible family members. This is a Contract position based out of Westfield, IN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
