Job Description
The Project Engineer supports a high volume of engineering projects, typically managing 15–20 active initiatives at once. This role combines project coordination, manufacturing engineering, and direct customer interaction to ensure projects move forward on schedule. The Project Engineer drives new technical processes, supports production on the floor, and contributes to continuous process improvement while playing a key role in quoting, sourcing, and technical problem solving within a small, family-oriented company environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage and support 15–20 active engineering projects simultaneously, ensuring each project stays on schedule and meets quality expectations.
- Coordinate project activities across engineering, production, and other internal teams to maintain smooth execution and timely delivery.
- Collaborate with customers to understand technical requirements, provide updates, and address questions or concerns throughout the project lifecycle.
- Develop, refine, and implement new technical processes that improve production efficiency and product quality.
- Provide hands-on support on the production floor, assisting with process improvement initiatives and resolving day-to-day technical issues.
- Lead or support quoting activities by reviewing technical requirements, estimating effort, and contributing to accurate and competitive proposals.
- Participate in sourcing efforts by working with suppliers and internal stakeholders to identify appropriate materials, components, and services.
- Troubleshoot technical problems in both engineering design and manufacturing processes, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
- Apply principles of mechanical and/or electrical engineering to support project engineering tasks and ensure technical feasibility.
- Prioritize tasks and manage time effectively to handle multiple concurrent projects without compromising quality or deadlines.
- Engineering or Engineering Technology degree; associate degree will be considered.
- 2–3 years of applicable internship experience in engineering, project engineering, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated ability to manage 15–20 projects at a time with strong time management and organizational skills.
- Experience in project management within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Foundational knowledge in electrical engineering and/or mechanical engineering.
- Hands-on experience or exposure to project engineering and manufacturing engineering activities.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with customers, production staff, and cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work as a people-oriented problem solver, building rapport and collaborating effectively with others.
- Experience working in a small company or family-owned business environment.
- Comfort working in a role that blends project coordination, manufacturing engineering, and customer interaction.
- Interest in continuous process improvement and floor support activities.
- Ability to contribute to quoting and sourcing processes in collaboration with engineering and supply chain teams.
This position operates in a small, family-owned company environment with a close-knit, collaborative culture. The role follows a typical schedule of approximately 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., providing a stable daytime work pattern. The Project Engineer spends time both in an office setting and on the production floor, working closely with manufacturing teams and engaging directly with technical processes and equipment. The environment emphasizes hands-on involvement, open communication, and teamwork to keep a high volume of projects moving efficiently and effectively.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $85000.00/yr.

(For example, if your medical is less than $800/month we do not pay you the difference as additional income.) Ball Systems will match a 1/2% for each of the first 4% the employe contributes (not to exceed a total of 2% company match) 4. TIME OFF: Paid Holidays a. New Year’s Day b. Memorial Day c. Independence Day d. Labor Day e. Thanksgiving Day f. Day after Thanksgiving g. Christmas Day h. Workday directly before or after Christmas Day (depending on day of the week for Christmas) The actual calendar of holidays will be designated by the Company at the start of each calendar year and may be modified at any time at Company discretion. Vacation/PTO VACATION: During the first 5 years of employment at the Company, 10 days of vacation are available on the first of January for that current year (12 months of assumed employment). After the employee’s 5th year anniversary, three (3) weeks of vacation are available for subsequent years. After the employee’s 10th year anniversary, four (4) weeks of vacation are available for subsequent years. Vacation Hours are pro-rated during your first partial year of employment. During the employee’s 5th year of employment, Vacation hours will be pro-rated between 2 and 3 weeks based on hire date. Also, during the employee’s 10th year, Vacation hours will be pro-rated between 3 and 4 weeks based on hire date. This is to get everyone on a calendar year basis. Up to five (5) days (40 hours) of vacation time can be carried over from the previous year. Carried over vacation must be scheduled for use by March 1st and taken by June 1st in the year following the year it was earned. PTO: Three (3) paid personal days/year – do not carry over (pro-rated first partial year).
