Job Title: Installation Coordinator - ENGLISH/JAPANESE BILINGUAL - PER DIEM AVAILABLE
Job Description
The Installation Coordinator installs company equipment at customer facilities and ensures that all installation activities run safely, efficiently, and according to plan. This role coordinates work between on-site project teams, remote management, and the customer, while often serving as safety leader, material planner, mechanical/electrical worker or supervisor, overall installation coordinator, team leader, and QA/QC leader. The position requires strong technical expertise in mechanical and electrical systems, as well as the ability to interpret equipment drawings and manage complex automated equipment installations.
Responsibilities
- Install company equipment at customer facilities in accordance with technical specifications, safety standards, and project timelines.
- Coordinate installation work between on-site project teams, remote management, and the customer to ensure clear communication and alignment on schedules, scope, and expectations.
- Serve as overall installation coordinator, organizing daily activities, assigning tasks, and monitoring progress to keep projects on track.
- Act as safety leader on site by promoting safe work practices, enforcing safety procedures, and maintaining situational awareness around live equipment and moving parts.
- Plan and manage materials required for installation, including ordering, tracking, and staging components to support efficient workflow.
- Perform mechanical and electrical installation work as needed, including assembly, wiring, alignment, and adjustment of equipment.
- Supervise mechanical and electrical tasks performed by team members to ensure quality workmanship and compliance with technical requirements.
- Lead QA/QC activities by inspecting installations, verifying correct assembly and alignment, and confirming that work meets design specifications and customer requirements.
- Use specialized tools and unique equipment applicable to maintenance and installation tasks, ensuring proper handling and care.
- Read and interpret equipment drawings, schematics, and technical documentation to guide installation activities and verify correct component placement.
- Identify parts and components through drawings and documentation to support accurate installation, troubleshooting, and replacement.
- Work with automated equipment such as stacker cranes, conveyors, and AGVs, ensuring proper setup, integration, and functional testing.
- Support building automation systems and automated equipment during installation, including basic configuration and verification of operation.
- Perform basic electrical troubleshooting during installation to identify and resolve issues related to wiring, components, and system integration.
- Utilize Microsoft Office programs to prepare reports, track progress, document issues, and communicate with stakeholders.
- Collaborate with field service and project teams to share technical insights, resolve on-site challenges, and improve installation processes.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area during all phases of installation to reduce hazards and improve efficiency.
- Demonstrate consistent situational awareness when working near live equipment and moving parts to protect self, team members, and customer personnel.
Essential Skills
- Proven experience in installation, construction, and mechanical work related to automated or material handling equipment.
- Strong mechanical knowledge and understanding of mechanical engineering principles relevant to equipment installation.
- Mechanical and electrical skills with the ability to perform hands-on installation, adjustment, and basic troubleshooting.
- Ability to use specialized tools and unique equipment applicable to maintenance and tools installation.
- Familiarity with one or more of the following equipment types: stacker cranes, conveyors, and automated guided vehicles (AGVs).
- Experience working with automated equipment and building automation systems.
- Ability to perform electrical troubleshooting in a field service or installation environment.
- Ability to read and understand equipment drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Ability to identify parts and components using technical drawings and documentation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs for documentation, reporting, and communication.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience in installation and/or automation maintenance or engineering.
- 5+ years of material handling experience as a field service technician, or an equivalent combination of education and industry experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Associate’s degree (AS) in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience as a field service technician in the material handling or automation industry.
- Experience in building automation systems and automated equipment integration.
- Japanese language skills.
- Experience coordinating with remote management teams and customer stakeholders.
- Prior responsibility in roles such as safety leader, material planner, team leader, or QA/QC leader.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a project environment.
- Effective communication skills for working with cross-functional teams and customers.

Work Environment
This role is primarily based at customer facilities and involves frequent work near live equipment and moving mechanical parts, requiring a high level of situational awareness at all times. You may occasionally encounter toxic or caustic chemicals and a risk of electrical shock while performing installation and troubleshooting tasks. The noise level in the work environment is typically elevated due to operating machinery and automated systems. Work is hands-on and field-based, often involving the use of specialized mechanical and electrical tools, as well as regular interaction with automated equipment such as stacker cranes, conveyors, AGVs, and building automation systems. You will use standard office software for reporting and coordination while adapting to varying site conditions, layouts, and customer facility requirements.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of De Soto, KS.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr.
