Machine shop worker - Up to $22/hr HIRING IMMEDIATELY!
Job Description:
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking General Laborer to support daily operations in a metal fabrication shop. This role involves assisting skilled fabricators, maintaining a clean and safe work environment, and performing various manual tasks to ensure production runs efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist fabricators, welders, and machine operators with daily production tasks
- Load, unload, and move raw materials, parts, and finished products
- Operate basic shop equipment such as grinders, drills, saws, and press machines (training provided)
- Clean, deburr, and prepare metal parts for fabrication or finishing
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Follow safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Help with packaging, labeling, and preparing orders for shipment
- Perform basic maintenance and shop housekeeping tasks
- Follow work instructions and meet production deadlines
Essential Skills:
- Experience with machining and operating cutting tables.
- Familiarity with plasma cutting processes and machinery.
- Ability to work with the A36 Cutting Table System and similar equipment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- Prior experience in fabrication, welding, and cutting is beneficial.
- Knowledge of blueprint reading and editing.
- Experience with sheet metal loading and lathe operations is a plus.
- Experience in quality control practices.
Work Environment, pay and shift:
- The role is based in a fabrication shop environment, focusing on machine operation rather than direct fabrication.
- The machine shop worker will be working with materials and placing them organized on racks or pallets for them to be taken to the shipping/receiving department.
- This person will only be operating the plasma cutting machine - not doing physical plasma cutting (basically uploading code and pressing the button for the machine to run) Therefore, they will not need a hood or gloves. The position involves uploading code and material handling, rather than welding.
- Pay ranges from $20/hr - $22/hr based on skill and experience.
- The facility operates on two shifts, providing flexibility and a structured work schedule. 1st shift - (7:00am-3:30pm), 2nd Shift -(4:00pm-12:30am).
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of OLATHE, KS.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
