Job Description
The Environmental Service Attendant maintains a clean, safe, and orderly environment across campus facilities and grounds. This role performs a variety of custodial and general cleaning tasks in dormitories, academic buildings, athletic facilities, and outdoor areas to support a welcoming and well-maintained campus.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily custodial duties to keep assigned areas clean, sanitary, and orderly.
- Clean and sanitize dormitories, including common areas, hallways, and other shared spaces.
- Maintain cleanliness in academic buildings and classrooms, including sweeping, mopping, and dusting.
- Support the upkeep of athletic facilities by cleaning floors, restrooms, and other high-traffic areas.
- Provide groundskeeping support, including general outdoor cleaning and upkeep of campus grounds.
- Clean offices and other designated workspaces, ensuring they remain tidy and presentable.
- Collect and dispose of trash and recyclables in a safe and efficient manner.
- Operate basic cleaning equipment and use cleaning supplies according to safety guidelines.
- Follow established cleaning schedules and task lists to ensure all assigned areas receive consistent attention.
- Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or damages observed during cleaning activities.
- Adhere to all site-specific policies and procedures while working on campus premises.
- Work assigned shifts reliably, including weekday and weekend schedules as needed.
Essential Skills
- Ability to perform janitorial, cleaning, and general labor tasks reliably and consistently.
- Capability to clean offices, dorms, academic buildings, athletic facilities, and grounds.
- Willingness to perform cleaning and custodial duties across a variety of campus environments.
- Ability to follow instructions, cleaning schedules, and safety procedures.
- No prior experience required; open to individuals new to custodial or general labor roles.
- No specific education required; role is accessible to candidates without formal educational credentials.
- Comfort working assigned shifts, including early morning and weekend schedules.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- No certifications required; training is provided on the job.
- Interest in maintaining clean and orderly environments in both indoor and outdoor settings.
- Reliability and strong work ethic, with a focus on completing tasks thoroughly.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a custodial or groundskeeping team.

Work Environment
The role is onsite at campus facilities, including dormitories, academic buildings, and athletic facilities. Work is performed in a temperature-controlled environment for most indoor tasks. Schedules include multiple shift options, such as 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM Monday through Friday for groundskeeping, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM Monday - Friday. 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM Monday - Friday. Sunday - Thursday 8:30 PM - 5:00 AM. Monday - Friday 4:00 AM - 12:30 PM. Sunday - Thursday 4:30 PM - 1:00 AM. The position involves hands-on custodial and general labor work, using standard cleaning supplies and equipment in a structured campus setting.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bowling Green, KY.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $13.72 - $13.72/hr.
