Job Description
The Maintenance Lead (Lead Industrial Maintenance Technician) oversees, mentors, and works alongside a team of maintenance technicians to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair complex manufacturing equipment. This role combines hands-on mechanical and electrical repair work with leadership responsibilities such as assigning work orders, managing parts inventory, and ensuring compliance with safety standards to minimize production downtime.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and support a team of maintenance technicians, providing guidance on best practices and safe work procedures.
- Perform hands-on preventive maintenance on complex manufacturing equipment to reduce unplanned downtime.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and injection molding equipment issues to quickly identify root causes.
- Carry out repairs and adjustments on machinery and systems to restore equipment to optimal operating condition.
- Assign and prioritize work orders to maintenance technicians based on production needs and equipment criticality.
- Manage and monitor parts and materials inventory to ensure necessary components are available for maintenance and repairs.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety standards and regulations, including OSHA and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Collaborate with production and other departments to schedule maintenance work with minimal impact on operations.
- Document maintenance work performed and maintain accurate records of equipment history and parts usage.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and maintenance processes and recommend solutions.
- Proven experience in preventive maintenance for complex manufacturing equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Hands-on experience maintaining and repairing injection molding equipment.
- Demonstrated maintenance management capabilities, including assigning work orders and overseeing maintenance activities.
- Knowledge of and adherence to OSHA safety standards and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Ability to lead, mentor, and work alongside a team of maintenance technicians.
- Solid understanding of industrial electrical systems and mechanical components.
- Ability to manage parts inventory to support efficient maintenance operations.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial production environment.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate with technicians and production teams.
- Ability to document maintenance activities and maintain accurate equipment records.
- Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to identify and implement process enhancements.

Work Environment
This role is based in a manufacturing facility with complex industrial equipment, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and injection molding systems. You will work in a hands-on environment that requires strict adherence to OSHA and lockout/tagout (LOTO) safety procedures. The position involves time spent on the production floor performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs, as well as coordinating tasks and managing parts inventory in a workshop or maintenance office setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lexington, KY.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
