Job Description
The Network Administrator maintains and supports the organization’s server and network infrastructure while providing hands-on technical assistance to end users. This role combines infrastructure management, user support, and project work to design and implement IT solutions that improve productivity and ensure compliance with North American security standards and J-SOX requirements. The position involves both front-end user-facing responsibilities and back-end network and systems administration in a dynamic production environment.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and troubleshoot all servers to ensure stable and secure operation.
- Design and implement IT projects that enhance productivity and operational efficiency.
- Follow and stay up to date with North American security standards and J-SOX requirements.
- Assist with the enforcement of security and compliance requirements across systems and networks.
- Maintain and administer the Active Directory environment, including user accounts, groups, and policies.
- Troubleshoot and maintain network connectivity across the organization.
- Manage, configure, and troubleshoot network switches and related infrastructure.
- Configure, manage, and troubleshoot firewall settings to support secure network operations.
- Manage and troubleshoot wireless network infrastructure to ensure reliable coverage and performance.
- Support and troubleshoot handheld scanners used within the environment.
- Handle support tickets by diagnosing issues, implementing solutions, and documenting work performed.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to plan and execute infrastructure, support, and improvement projects.
- Balance user-facing support duties with backend network and administrative work in a production setting.
Essential Skills
- 2–5 years of hands-on experience in network administration.
- Strong knowledge of network administration concepts and practices.
- Proficiency with TCP/IP networking and related protocols.
- Experience configuring and managing network switches.
- Experience configuring and managing firewall settings.
- Hands-on experience maintaining and administering Active Directory.
- Ability to troubleshoot and maintain network connectivity issues.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting skills for servers, networks, and user systems.
- Experience working with support tickets and incident resolution.
- Ability to work effectively in a role that combines infrastructure, support, and project responsibilities.
- Capability to perform user-facing support alongside backend network and administrative tasks.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Exposure to wireless network management and troubleshooting.
- Experience supporting handheld scanners or similar devices.
- Project management exposure related to IT infrastructure and productivity improvement initiatives.
- Familiarity with security and compliance frameworks such as North American security standards and J-SOX.
Work Environment
This is an on-site position in a production-oriented environment, likely supporting manufacturing or similar operations. The standard work schedule runs from 8:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. The role is hands-on and involves working directly with network equipment, servers, wireless infrastructure, handheld scanners, and end-user devices. You will balance time between user-facing support and backend network and systems administration while operating within established security and compliance frameworks.
