Job Description
The Shipping and Receiving Specialist manages all inbound and outbound shipments for the corporate office, ensuring packages are safely prepared, accurately documented, and efficiently coordinated with carriers and logistics partners. This role combines hands-on material handling with careful inventory control, documentation, and communication across multiple locations.
Responsibilities
- Handle all inbound and outbound shipments for the corporate office and additional locations as needed.
- Communicate proactively with ground carriers, courier services, LTL providers, and 3PL partners to coordinate shipments.
- Prepare and securely package all outbound orders, ensuring safe and damage-free transport.
- Prepare shipments for pickup, including strapping, banding, and wrapping pallets or packages as required.
- Schedule outbound shipments using online portals, email, and phone calls to carriers and 3PL providers.
- Set up shipping arrangements for multiple locations via email and phone, ensuring timely and accurate logistics.
- Maintain accurate inventories for all orders that are in processing and update records as shipments move through the workflow.
- Complete, organize, and distribute all required paperwork for shipments, including bills of lading (BOLs), packing slips, and related documents.
- Perform data entry related to shipping, receiving, and inventory control using computer systems and software.
- Operate material handling equipment, including forklifts, to move, load, and unload materials safely.
- Support assembly and related warehouse activities as needed to keep operations running smoothly.
- Build and maintain positive, service-oriented relationships with internal team members and external shippers.
- Multi-task effectively and handle unexpected interruptions while maintaining accuracy and meeting timelines.
- Ensure all work meets established standards for quality, accuracy, and timeliness.
- Minimum 2 years of shipping and receiving experience.
- Proficiency in computer use and typing for data entry and documentation.
- Experience with shipping and receiving processes and documentation, including BOLs and packing slips.
- Strong data entry skills with attention to accuracy and detail.
- Inventory control experience, including tracking orders in process.
- Material handling experience, including lifting packages up to and over 75 lbs.
- Ability to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely.
- Familiarity with SAP or similar enterprise resource planning systems.
- Ability to multi-task and manage unexpected interruptions while staying organized.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and precision to ensure standards and deadlines are met.
- Positive, "can do" attitude and ability to build effective working relationships with team members and shippers.
- Experience working with ground, courier, LTL, and 3PL shipping providers.
- Comfort using online shipping portals and coordinating shipments via email and phone.
- Experience with assembly or related warehouse tasks.
- Ability to cross-train and support multiple areas within a warehouse or operations environment.
- Comfort working in a dynamic environment with changing priorities.

Work Environment
This role is based in a warehouse and office setting where you will work closely with operations, logistics, and administrative teams. The facility can be hot in the summer and is heated in the winter, so you should be comfortable working in a changing temperature environment. You will regularly handle materials, operate forklifts, and use computer systems such as SAP and online shipping portals. The culture is positive and laid back, with supportive management and opportunities to cross-train in different areas. Standard hours follow a day-shift schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Versailles, KY.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
