This role focuses on performing high-quality welding and metal fabrication work for custom-built products. You will cut, prepare, and weld mainly steel and aluminum components using a variety of welding processes and tools, ensuring each part meets specifications and quality standards while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
Responsibilities- Use a handheld plasma cutter to cut metal parts, primarily steel and aluminum, according to specifications.
- Grind and smooth edges after cutting using grinders to ensure clean, safe, and accurate finishes.
- Weld identifying marks, typically numbers, onto parts for traceability and identification.
- Perform MIG and Stick welding operations on a variety of metal components.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding procedures to determine job requirements.
- Measure, mark, and lay out materials using templates, patterns, and scribes to prepare for cutting and welding.
- Align and assemble products or structures for welding using cranes, hoists, chains, and related equipment.
- Use cutting or plasma torches to prepare materials to specification prior to welding or fabrication.
- Follow established safety procedures and maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
- Work consistent 55+ hour weeks as needed to meet customer deadlines and production schedules.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure custom orders are completed accurately and on time.
- Proficiency in MIG welding.
- Proficiency in Stick welding.
- Ability to use handheld plasma cutters safely and effectively.
- Experience using grinders to grind and smooth metal edges.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding procedures.
- Blueprint reading skills for fabrication and layout work.
- Ability to measure, mark, and lay out materials using templates, patterns, and scribes.
- Experience with fabrication work in a metalworking or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to align and assemble products or structures using cranes, hoists, chains, and related equipment.
- Strong commitment to consistent attendance, including working 55+ hour weeks when required.
- Understanding of and adherence to safety procedures in a welding and fabrication environment.
- Experience with TIG welding.
- Experience with flux core welding.
- Previous experience working in a job shop or custom fabrication environment.
- Comfort working with both steel and aluminum materials.
- Ability to work efficiently under time pressure to meet custom order deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and quality in welding and fabrication work.

Work EnvironmentThis role is based in a manufacturing facility that produces construction products such as corrugated piping, operating as a job shop rather than a high-volume production line. Work is driven by custom orders and specific customer requests, so the pace can be demanding with a strong focus on meeting deadlines and delivering on time. The facility is not temperature controlled, so conditions can be very hot during summer months and cold in winter, requiring comfort working in varying temperatures. You will use equipment such as handheld plasma cutters, grinders, welding machines (MIG, Stick, and potentially TIG and flux core), and material handling tools including cranes, hoists, and chains in a busy, hands-on fabrication environment.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
