Job Title: Clinical Research Coordinator
Job Description
The Clinical Research Coordinator supports the successful execution of clinical trials by coordinating study activities, providing direct patient care, and ensuring regulatory compliance. This role focuses on identifying and recruiting participants, managing study visits and follow-ups, performing basic clinical procedures, and maintaining accurate documentation in accordance with protocol and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Identify, screen, and recruit potential study participants through chart review and pre-screening activities.
- Obtain informed consent from study participants in accordance with clinical trial protocols and ethical standards.
- Coordinate and conduct participant study visits and follow-up appointments, ensuring all protocol-required procedures are completed.
- Perform basic clinical procedures such as measuring vital signs, conducting EKGs, and performing phlebotomy when applicable.
- Process and ship laboratory specimens according to study protocols and established procedures.
- Educate participants about trial requirements, potential side effects, medication schedules, and visit expectations.
- Maintain and update regulatory documents, including Investigator Site Files (ISF) and Institutional Review Board (IRB) correspondence.
- Document and report adverse events (AEs) and serious adverse events (SAEs) accurately and in a timely manner.
- Support clinical trial activities in therapeutic areas such as oncology and gastroenterology (GI).
- Collaborate with clinical research and patient care teams to ensure high-quality data collection and participant safety.
- Contribute to patient recruitment strategies and help optimize enrollment into clinical studies.
Essential Skills
- Experience with chart review and pre-screening patients for clinical trials.
- Experience in clinical research, including familiarity with clinical study workflows and documentation.
- Ability to identify, screen, recruit, and consent patients for participation in clinical trials.
- Knowledge of clinical trial processes in therapeutic areas such as oncology and gastroenterology (GI).
- Skills in patient recruitment and relationship-building with study participants.
- Capability to perform basic clinical procedures, including vital signs, EKGs, and phlebotomy, when required.
- Competence in processing and shipping lab specimens according to protocol.
- Understanding of regulatory requirements and experience maintaining Investigator Site Files (ISF) and IRB correspondence.
- Ability to accurately document and report adverse events (AEs) and serious adverse events (SAEs).
- Strong communication skills to educate participants on trial requirements, potential side effects, and medication schedules.
- Organizational skills to coordinate multiple study visits and follow-ups efficiently.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Position does not require an LPN or RN license.
- Open to candidates who do not perform blood draws, provided other clinical responsibilities can be met.
- Experience working on oncology and GI clinical trials is beneficial.
- Prior involvement in patient-facing roles within healthcare or research settings is an advantage.
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate and complete study documentation.
Work Environment
This is an onsite role based in a clinical research setting, working five days per week, Monday through Friday. Start times may vary, typically around 7:00 a.m. or slightly later depending on scheduling needs. The environment involves direct interaction with patients, collaboration with clinical and research staff, and use of standard clinical equipment for procedures such as vital signs assessment, EKGs, and specimen handling. The role requires consistent presence on site to support participant visits, specimen processing, and regulatory documentation, in a professional, patient-focused atmosphere.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Lafayette, LA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
