Job Description
The Junior Facilities Technician supports the Facilities & Maintenance Department in maintaining a safe, clean, functional, and efficient work environment across all facilities and properties. This role assists with day-to-day facility operations, preventative maintenance activities, groundskeeping, repairs, and general property upkeep. The ideal candidate is dependable, hands-on, safety-conscious, and willing to perform a variety of maintenance and facility support tasks as needed.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Facilities Manager with daily facility operations and maintenance activities.
- Perform routine inspections of buildings, grounds, equipment, and common areas.
- Complete minor repairs to building systems, fixtures, furniture, and equipment.
- Assist with preventative maintenance programs for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
- Identify maintenance concerns and report issues requiring specialized repair.
- Perform landscaping duties including mowing, trimming, weeding, and general grounds upkeep.
- Maintain exterior areas, parking lots, walkways, and company property in a clean and safe condition.
- Assist with snow and ice removal during inclement weather as needed.
- Perform interior and exterior painting projects.
- Install or repair signs, fixtures, shelving, and other facility components.
- Assist with carpentry, patching, drywall repairs, and general facility improvements.
- Assist with office moves, furniture assembly, and workspace reconfigurations.
- Support facility event setups and departmental requests.
- Respond to maintenance work orders in a timely manner.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Use tools, equipment, and materials safely and responsibly.
- Assist in maintaining OSHA compliance and facility safety standards.
- Report unsafe conditions, incidents, or hazards promptly.

- High school diploma or GED required
- Technical, trade school, or vocational training preferred
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Strong attention to detail
- 0–3 years of facility maintenance, construction, landscaping, or related experience preferred
- Basic knowledge of building maintenance and repair practices
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn new skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work in various weather conditions
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors throughout the year
- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kingston, MA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
