Job Description
This part-time Cook position offers an opportunity to prepare and serve meals in a hospital kitchen setting, supporting patient care and staff dining. You will work approximately 20 hours per week on a set schedule, preparing food according to established recipes and standards, assisting with breakfast and grill service, and maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook food according to established recipes and food-service standards.
- Assist with breakfast preparation and service, ensuring timely and accurate meal delivery.
- Work the grill and prepare menu items as needed throughout scheduled shifts.
- Assist with food preparation tasks, including chopping, portioning, and assembling ingredients.
- Support general kitchen duties to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Perform light dishwashing and cleanup tasks when necessary.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of food preparation and kitchen areas at all times.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and healthcare facility procedures and guidelines.
- Work effectively as part of the dietary and food service team to meet service goals.
- Complete other kitchen duties as assigned by supervisors to support overall kitchen operations.
Essential Skills
- Basic cooking experience in a food service or kitchen environment.
- Experience with food preparation tasks such as chopping, portioning, and assembling ingredients.
- Ability to work on a line or grill station and prepare menu items to order.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and established food safety procedures.
- Reliable and punctual with consistent attendance.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to collaborate and work effectively as part of a team.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Previous food service, cooking, or kitchen experience preferred.
- Experience in roles such as line cook, food prep, dishwasher, or chef is beneficial.
- Food production, tray line, or hospitality is an advantage.
- Healthcare food service experience is a plus, but not required.

Work Environment
This role is based in a hospital kitchen environment, working within a healthcare facilitys dietary and food service department. You will work approximately 20 hours per week, with scheduled shifts from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM on Monday and Thursday and from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM on Saturday and Sunday, with an every-other-weekend rotation. Weekend shifts may include both Saturday and Sunday, and additional weekday shifts may be discussed during the interview. The kitchen is fast-paced and focused on meeting strict food safety, sanitation, and healthcare standards. You will work with commercial kitchen equipment, grill stations, and food production tools in a clean, organized, and safety-conscious environment.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
