Job Description

The Senior ElectroMechanical Integration Engineer will play a vital role in the R&D organization, contributing significantly to the development of the next generation robotic platform that aims to transform the future of healthcare. This position involves working on the development of complex electro-mechanical assemblies, from prototype to verification builds and tests, within a regulated medical device development environment. The role is ideal for a hands-on, senior-level R&D engineer with multi-disciplinary knowledge in mechanical, electrical, and software engineering, skilled in integrating complex electromechanical systems, troubleshooting, configuration management, and advising on design improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and upgrade the fleet of robotic systems for R&D development.
  • Lead system configuration management to support system traceability for various R&D activities.
  • Conduct disciplined system troubleshooting activities in collaboration with different engineering disciplines.
  • Author relevant documents related to process improvements.
  • Develop test methods and protocols, execute tests, prepare reports, and release them via Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
  • Support system builds, inventory management, and procurement activities.
  • Lead and support detailed planning including Bill of Materials (BOM), procurement, and future builds.

Essential Skills

  • 8+ years of experience in a complex electromechanical system R&D environment.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Robotics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field. An Associate’s degree with exceptional experience is acceptable.
  • Experience in heavily-regulated industries such as medical devices or aerospace.
  • Proven hands-on experience in the assembly and testing of electro-mechanical systems.
  • Ability to deconstruct complex problems into manageable components for effective solutions.
  • Proficiency in fixture and process validation.
  • Experience in cross-functional collaboration and technical leadership.
  • Project management experience including task timeline estimation and work breakdown structures.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Outstanding documentation and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using MS Office.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices for developing complex electromechanical systems.
  • Experience in design transfer or new product introduction is desired.
  • CAD proficiency with a preference for Solidworks.
  • Knowledge of Design for Manufacturing/Assembly (DFM/A), Six Sigma, and statistical tolerance analysis.
  • Proficiency with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software and ECOs.
  • Experience in developing production-level and support documentation, including BOMs, assembly drawings, and maintenance instructions.
  • Experience using, modifying, and programming in MATLAB Simulink or LabView.

Work Environment

The work environment includes both office and lab settings, providing a dynamic atmosphere for innovation and development in cutting-edge technology that will revolutionize surgery.
