Job Title: Planner Scheduler
Job Description
The Planner Scheduler will play a key role in supporting unmanned systems programs by developing, managing, and maintaining Integrated Master Schedules (IMS) and coordinating production planning activities. This position ensures that materials, personnel, and equipment are aligned with project timelines and production requirements, while collaborating closely with production, program management, and cross-functional teams. The role also supports inventory control, manufacturing order generation and closeout, and may assist in implementing new policies, procedures, and software tools to improve scheduling and production efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Build, maintain, and update Integrated Master Schedules (IMS) to support multiple projects and product lines within unmanned systems programs.
- Plan, prepare, issue, and control production schedules to ensure timely completion of manufacturing activities and program milestones.
- Coordinate material requirements with production schedules to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials that meet production needs.
- Collaborate with the production team to support inventory control activities and manage Manufacturing Order (MO) generation and closeout.
- Advise leadership on the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production or schedule risks.
- Ensure that personnel, equipment, materials, and services are available as needed to meet schedule and production commitments.
- Schedule equipment and personnel in alignment with the master production schedule, shop load, and inventory requirements.
- Confirm material supply and demand, and prepare work orders or purchase requests for components or parts based on production needs.
- Coordinate interdepartmental activities with quality assurance, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, inventory control, traffic, and other relevant functions to maintain smooth production flow.
- Schedule and expedite the movement of parts and materials using move orders, stock transfers, and requests for shipping orders.
- Prepare, update, and evaluate schedules and schedule metrics to monitor performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Work closely with the Program Management Office (PMO) and assist with the implementation of new policies, procedures, and software related to planning and scheduling.
- Work both independently and collaboratively in team or group settings to meet project and production objectives.
Essential Skills
- Demonstrated experience in production planning and scheduling in a manufacturing or similar environment.
- Proven experience in planner or scheduler roles within supply chain, production planning, or purchasing functions.
- Mastery of Microsoft Project for creating, maintaining, and analyzing project and production schedules.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for schedule analysis, reporting, and metrics tracking.
- Experience preparing, updating, and evaluating schedules and schedule metrics.
- Ability to work independently and effectively in team and group settings.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
- 6 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or 4 years of relevant experience with a Master’s degree in a related field, or a High School Diploma or equivalent with 10 years of relevant experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Proficiency with Primavera P6 is highly desired for advanced scheduling and project controls.
- Experience coordinating across multiple functions such as quality assurance, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, inventory control, and logistics.
- Experience in supply chain coordination, inventory control, and material requirements planning.
- Ability to support the implementation of new policies, procedures, and software tools related to planning and scheduling.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pocasset, MA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
