Job Description
As a Repository Technician, you will be responsible for the receipt, inventory, storage, withdrawal, and shipment of biological specimens, samples, clinical agents, and materials from various commercial and government clients. The materials are stored at temperatures ranging from ambient to -20°C with potentially hazardous properties. You will use database applications, adhere to standard precautionary procedures, and communicate effectively while making informed decisions. You will work independently and interact with internal or external clients under the guidance of experienced staff.
Responsibilities
- Prepare samples or clinical agents for pickups, courier deliveries, and shipments.
- Collaborate with managers to support customer inquiries, discrepancies, inventory maintenance, and database updates.
- Utilize an inventory management system for data entry, sample tracking, and management.
- Maintain files for data validation and prepare queries, review data for accuracy, and compile reports.
- Perform internal specimen consolidation and reorganization projects under guidance.
- Participate in process improvement activities.
- Receive, handle, and inventory specimens with temperatures ranging from ambient to -196°C.
- Ensure compliance with cGMP parts 210 and 211 and company quality systems.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety guidelines, and FDA requirements.
- Exhibit behavior consistent with company values of Integrity, Intensity, Innovation, and Involvement.
- Prepare sample collection kits according to Standard Work Instructions.
- Make deliveries to clients as required.
- Travel to other facilities as needed to meet business demands.
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs.
- Experience with cold chain management, dry ice, and -80°C freezers.
- Proficiency in data entry, shipping/receiving, and sample management.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Expertise in preparing reports using Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Word, and possibly Microsoft Access.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- IATA Dangerous Goods Training for Class 6.2 Shipping.
- Blood Borne Pathogens Training.
- Certified Pharmacy Technician preferred.
- Experience with Universal Precautions, general laboratory, and quality assurance/control preferred.
- Strong customer service and social skills required.
You will work in cold environments ranging from ambient to -196°C with exposure to dry ice, liquid nitrogen cryogenics, and potentially hazardous agents. The role involves repetitive tasks, walking, standing, reaching, and lifting up to 50 lbs continuously. You may occasionally sit, kneel, crouch, and crawl. Flexibility in working varying schedules, hours, and overtime is required. Travel between division sites may be necessary. Training will be provided through one-on-one instruction and on-the-job training.

This is a Contract position based out of Germantown, MD.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
