Job Title: Construction Superintendent
Job Description
This role oversees fast-paced interior renovation projects in active school environments during the summer construction season. The construction superintendent manages all on-site activities, ensuring work progresses safely, on schedule, and in alignment with project specifications and quality standards. This position offers the opportunity to work on impactful educational facility projects while contributing to a close-knit, collaborative construction team with potential for longer-term employment based on performance.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all construction activities on site for interior school renovation projects, ensuring work complies with project plans, specifications, and quality standards.
- Manage and enforce site safety at all times, including adherence to OSHA standards and project-specific safety requirements.
- Develop, maintain, and update project schedules, ensuring all milestones and deadlines are met for these fast-paced projects with hard deadlines.
- Coordinate and manage subcontractors, including selection, onboarding, supervision, and performance oversight throughout the project.
- Lead and participate in regular progress meetings with project stakeholders, providing clear updates on schedule, safety, and work status.
- Prepare and submit accurate daily progress reports documenting work performed, manpower on site, safety issues, and any schedule or scope impacts.
- Review and interpret blueprints and construction documents to guide field operations and resolve issues as they arise.
- Use construction management software, including Procore, to track project activities, documentation, and deliverables.
- Collaborate closely with the general contractor team and project partners to coordinate site logistics and resolve field challenges quickly.
- Ensure project deliverables are completed on time and in accordance with contract requirements and client expectations.
Essential Skills
- Proven experience in construction supervision or construction management, preferably in commercial or school renovation projects.
- History in commercial construction with experience serving as a superintendent or in a similar field leadership role.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and enforce site safety, including familiarity with OSHA standards and practices.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and construction documents.
- Experience with project scheduling, including schedule creation, updates, and coordination with subcontractors and stakeholders.
- Hands-on experience with subcontractor management, including selection, coordination, and performance oversight.
- Ability to prepare clear and detailed daily progress reports documenting on-site activities and issues.
- Competence in using construction management software, specifically Procore, to manage project information and workflows.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication and leadership skills to coordinate subcontractors, project teams, and stakeholders on site.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- OSHA 30 certification or equivalent safety training is highly beneficial.
- Experience working with general contractors on commercial construction or renovation projects.
- History in site construction and field supervision for interior renovation projects.
- Familiarity with additional construction management tools and software beyond Procore.
- Ability to thrive in projects with aggressive timelines and hard deadlines.
- Track record of building strong working relationships within small, collaborative teams.

The role operates primarily on active construction sites for interior school renovation projects, with regular coordination through a small office environment that emphasizes a close-knit, family-style team culture. The team is part of an established construction organization with a long-standing reputation and a small-team feel, with under thirty people in the office. Projects move quickly and involve firm deadlines, requiring a focused, organized, and safety-conscious approach. The superintendent works closely with project management, subcontractors, and field personnel, leveraging tools such as Procore and other construction management software to coordinate daily activities and documentation. Performance in this role may lead to longer-term employment opportunities within a stable, collaborative construction team.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Glen Burnie, MD.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $46.00 - $49.00/hr.
