Job Title: Accounts Receivable Specialist
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Accounts Receivable Specialist to manage the full-cycle accounts receivable process, including billing and invoicing for clients. This role requires a high level of accuracy in applying cash receipts and posting payments to customer accounts.
Responsibilities
- Manage the full-cycle accounts receivable process, including billing and invoicing.
- Generate and distribute accurate invoices in a timely manner.
- Apply cash receipts and post payments to customer accounts with precision.
- Monitor aging reports and follow up on outstanding balances through collections efforts via email or phone.
- Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, short payments, and unapplied cash.
- Reconcile accounts receivable ledger to ensure all payments are properly accounted for.
- Perform account reconciliations and assist with month-end close activities.
- Maintain detailed and organized records of customer accounts and payment activity.
- Collaborate with internal teams such as sales, customer service, and accounting to resolve client issues and improve processes.
Essential Skills
- 2+ years of accounts receivable or general accounting experience.
- Experience using QuickBooks.
- Strong experience with billing, invoicing, cash applications, collections, and reconciliations.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial reporting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, especially in collections scenarios.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and basic formulas.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to research and resolve discrepancies independently.
Work Environment
This position requires working in the office five days a week, Monday through Friday, from 6:45 am to 2 pm, working through lunch. There is an option to work on Saturdays from 7 am to 11 am for extra pay, though it is not required. The environment is relaxed, with short working days, and the company has been established for over 20 years, providing fresh seafood across the Eastern Shore and Chesapeake Bay area.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Grasonville, MD.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $25.00/hr.
