Job Description
This role leads quality control project management for a four-building data center campus in Frederick, MD, overseeing inspection documentation for a major cloud provider on behalf of the owner. The Quality Control Project Manager brings best practices and innovative approaches to improve design, construction, and operational transition, while ensuring projects meet strict standards for quality, cost, and schedule. This is a long-term opportunity with an initial 12‑month contract and the potential for extension or contract-to-hire, offering comprehensive benefits and the flexibility of a primarily remote work arrangement.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all quality control activities and inspection documentation for a four-building data center campus, ensuring compliance with established standards and requirements.
- Implement best practices and innovative project management methods to drive efficiencies in design, construction, and operational transition processes.
- Ensure adherence to defined quality standards, optimal cost structures, and on-time delivery, integrating these standards into the overall project framework.
- Act on behalf of centralized internal teams to help maintain project-level schedules and cost controls in alignment with stakeholder requirements.
- Monitor, track, and report on project progress, schedule, and budget performance according to established reporting standards.
- Manage and process RFIs (Requests for Information), change orders, and submittals, ensuring accurate documentation and timely resolution.
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with ownership teams and other key stakeholders to address issues, clarify requirements, and support decision-making.
- Work concurrently on multiple programs, balancing priorities and resources to deliver successful outcomes across all assigned initiatives.
- Adapt responsibilities as needed to support program planning and execution, maintaining a flexible and collaborative approach.
- Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to support any activities required for successful project delivery.
- Support the operational transition of the data center campus by ensuring quality documentation, handover, and closeout processes are complete and accurate.
- 2–3 years of data center project experience.
- Background as an owner’s representative or similar role representing ownership interests.
- Demonstrated experience managing RFIs, change orders, and submittals.
- Experience communicating effectively with owners and key stakeholders on project issues and status.
- Proficiency with Primavera P6 for project scheduling and controls.
- Project management experience in construction or construction management environments.
- Experience working on data center or similar mission-critical facilities.
- Ability to manage multiple programs concurrently and balance competing priorities.
- Strong organizational skills for maintaining accurate quality control and inspection documentation.
- Ability to comply with and implement established standards for quality, cost, and schedule.
- Experience in construction management or a related discipline supporting large-scale facilities.
- Familiarity with data center design, construction, and operational transition processes.
- Experience implementing best practices and process improvements in project delivery.
- Comfort working in a dynamic environment where responsibilities may shift to support program needs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for stakeholder coordination and reporting.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating effectively with distributed teams.
This position operates primarily in a remote work environment and can be based from any location, providing flexibility while supporting a four-building data center campus in Frederick, MD. The role involves regular virtual collaboration with internal teams, ownership groups, and project stakeholders, using project management tools such as Primavera P6 and standard communication platforms. Occasional travel to the data center site is expected, potentially around once per month for several days, though the exact frequency may vary based on project needs. The role is offered as a 12‑month contract with the potential for extension or transition to a longer-term arrangement and includes access to medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as 401(k) options. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $115000.00 - $130000.00/hr.
