Job Title: Distribution Engineer
Job Description
Join our dynamic team as a Distribution Engineer where you will play a crucial role in connecting new homes and commercial businesses to the energy grid. This position offers a blend of fieldwork and remote work, providing flexibility and the opportunity to work on diverse projects. You will be responsible for developing design packages, conducting electrical analysis, and ensuring the efficient delivery of power distribution solutions.
Responsibilities
- Conduct field inspections to gather notes, pictures, and measurements for creating work packages.
- Perform electrical analysis to determine necessary materials and create electrical drawings.
- Complete engineering calculations including structural analysis of poles, cable pulling, and transformer sizing.
- Develop Bill of Materials using SAP software based on material selection.
- Collaborate with utility companies to ensure the delivery of effective power distribution solutions.
- Use professional judgment to solve problems and make routine recommendations.
- Interact daily with supervisors, peers, and customers to exchange factual information.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering, or an Associate's Degree with relevant experience.
- 0-2 years of relevant experience in design engineering with an electric utility or consulting company, or a Master's degree.
- Proficiency in CAD tools such as AutoCAD or Microstation.
- Strong communication skills for client interactions.
- Valid driver's license.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC).
- Familiarity with PoleForeman, SAP, and Microstation.
- Fundamentals of Engineer certification.
- Ability to work collaboratively in diverse teams.
Work Environment
This role is based in multiple territories including Jackson, Kalamazoo, Cadillac and Big Rapids, Michigan. A typical workweek includes 10%-20% field inspections and 60%-80% engineering and development of design packages, with the remainder dedicated to administrative tasks. Fieldwork is flexible and can be scheduled around other projects and weather conditions. While field inspections require travel, other tasks can be completed remotely, providing a balanced work environment.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cadillac, MI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $29.00 - $29.00/hr.
