Job Title: Construction Project Manager
Job Description
Join our reputable cement contractor as a Construction Project Manager, where you will coordinate and direct the timely and profitable completion of assigned projects. You will be responsible for communicating job progress through weekly project status reports and ensuring the seamless execution of projects.
Responsibilities
- Meet with general superintendent and assist project superintendents with the 'office-to-field' handoff meeting.
- Proactively monitor and ensure profitable operations on a project-by-project basis.
- Establish, update, and monitor all project budgets and schedules before the pre-construction conference or handoff meeting is held.
- Perform site visits to all projects to evaluate project status, progress, safety, quality, and profitability.
- Prepare accurate and timely submittals for construction projects based on project drawings and specifications, and administer during the construction process.
- Responsible for timely close-out documents.
- Facilitate the completion of any necessary sub-tiered subcontractor's contracts and verify all pricing, scope, schedule, and insurance are properly accounted.
- Report project updates and performance with management.
- Review and complete any necessary forms such as subcontractor or supplier lists within the general contractor agreement.
- Prepare schedule of values and review contract for scope of work, contract price, etc.
- Prepare pre-construction checklist.
- Monitor JHAs and extra work reports.
- Review updated drawings for changes to work and write requests for change orders as necessary.
- Work with operations manager to align project resources, schedule, and manpower to achieve desired goals.
Essential Skills
- 3-5 years of construction project management experience, preferably working at a subcontractor or general contractor.
- 2-year degree, preferably related to construction or civil engineering, OR 2+ years of experience as a construction project manager.
- Leadership and time management qualities to act as a daily point of contact between General Contractors, Owners, Engineers, Architects, Vendors, and Suppliers.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Familiarity with the lifecycle of a construction building project (Design, procurement, preconstruction, execution, project control, project closeout).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in construction management or civil engineering is a bonus.
- Concrete experience is a bonus.
- Experience in construction project management.
Work Environment
The work environment is family-oriented with a focus on longevity, celebrating 75 years in business. You will work directly with and be trained by the Project Manager/Estimator. The position offers company-paid benefits, year-end bonuses, and profit sharing. The majority of your time will be spent in the office, with occasional site visits as needed. Most job sites are within a 2-hour radius of the office. Typical work hours range from 40-50 hours per week, with up to 60 hours during the busy season. Dress code is business casual.
