Job Description
This role supports a refrigerated food production facility that produces hummus and salsa by ensuring all washroom equipment, tools, and containers are thoroughly cleaned, sanitized, and ready for safe use. The washroom attendant follows strict sanitation procedures, works comfortably in cold and wet conditions, and wears full personal protective equipment while handling equipment and materials used in food processing.
Responsibilities
- Inspect equipment as it moves through the wash, rinse, and sanitize process to ensure it meets cleanliness and sanitation standards.
- Drain and refill all sinks every two hours and as needed to maintain proper sanitation.
- Maintain a sanitation bucket with appropriate cleaning solution available at all times.
- Properly dip hands in designated sanitation solutions as required during cleaning and handling tasks.
- Remove stickers from v-mag lids and discard them appropriately before washing.
- Direct overspray toward the designated dirty side of the room and away from clean equipment to prevent contamination.
- Wash pallets using a disposable scouring pad and discard the pad at the end of the shift.
- Clean v-mags using a food-grade white scrub brush to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
- Dip hands before transporting clean v-mags to the clean area to maintain sanitary handling practices.
- Clean wheels of v-mags with an approved brush to prevent contamination from floor contact.
- Clean all bins daily and ensure they are properly sanitized and stored.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe washroom and production support environment throughout the shift.
- Operate spray washers and related washing equipment safely and efficiently.
- Support machine operators by ensuring filler machines and related components are cleaned and ready for use.
- Perform basic mechanical and machine operating tasks as needed, including supporting weight checks and equipment handling.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and personal protective equipment requirements at all times.
- Experience washing down large items such as dishware, bins, or similar large products.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift.
- Comfort working in a wet environment and handling water-based cleaning processes.
- Comfort working in cold, refrigerated food production areas.
- Strong attention to detail when inspecting equipment and verifying cleanliness.
- Ability to follow detailed sanitation procedures and safety guidelines.
- Willingness to wear full personal protective equipment, including lab coat, hair net, beard net as needed, and rubber gloves.
- Reliability in attendance and ability to maintain consistent transportation to work.
- Background in food and beverage production is beneficial.
- Experience in industrial or automotive environments is helpful.
- Familiarity with industrial equipment such as filling machines and mixers.
- Exposure to equipment that runs on pneumatics and hydraulics, including valves and hoses.
- Comfort working on different shifts, including early mornings, afternoons, and overnights.
- Ability to work mandatory Saturdays and occasional Sundays as required.

Work Environment
This position is based in a food and beverage production facility where hummus and salsa are manufactured in a refrigerated environment, so many work areas are cold. The washroom and production support areas are wet, with frequent use of water, cleaning solutions, and spray washers. Team members fully suit up in appropriate personal protective equipment, including lab coat, hair net, beard net as applicable, and rubber gloves while working in food areas. The role involves standing, lifting, and handling equipment throughout the shift. Shifts typically run 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., and 10:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, with mandatory Saturdays and potential work on Sundays depending on production needs.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ferndale, MI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $16.00 - $16.50/hr.
