- Ability to perform basic electrical calculations and load analyses under the guidance of a licensed engineer.
- Interest in staying current with evolving electrical technologies and industry trends.
Job Description
The Electrical Designer will support the design and development of efficient, code-compliant electrical systems for industrial and commercial facilities. In this role, you will collaborate closely with electrical engineers, architects, and multidisciplinary project teams to create electrical design solutions, produce detailed drawings and specifications, and assist throughout all phases of project delivery. You will contribute to a diverse portfolio of projects and play a key role in ensuring safe, reliable, and well-coordinated electrical systems.
Responsibilities
- Create and develop electrical design solutions that respond to project requirements, applicable codes, client standards, and site constraints.
- Prepare and coordinate electrical drawings and specifications for industrial and commercial facilities.
- Collaborate with electrical engineers, architects, and other disciplines to ensure electrical systems integrate seamlessly with architectural, structural, and mechanical designs.
- Produce detailed electrical plans, layouts, schedules, and details using building information modeling (BIM) software such as Autodesk Revit.
- Assist with electrical calculations, load analyses, and design assumptions under the direction of a licensed engineer.
- Develop layouts for power distribution, lighting, grounding, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems as required by the project.
- Review architectural and consultant drawings to identify potential conflicts and propose coordinated design solutions.
- Coordinate with contractors and project teams to address constructability issues and respond to requests for information (RFIs).
- Participate in site visits and support construction-phase services, including design clarifications, revisions, and preparation of as-built documentation.
- Manage multiple projects concurrently while meeting deadlines and maintaining established quality standards.
- Maintain accurate and organized project documentation, including drawings, specifications, and revision histories.
- Ensure all electrical designs comply with applicable building codes, safety standards, and industry best practices.
- Stay current with electrical codes, technologies, and emerging industry trends to continuously improve design quality.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lansing, MI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $26.44 - $33.65/hr.
