Job Title: Construction Project Manager
Job Description
A reputable cement contractor is seeking a Construction Project Manager to join their team. The Project Manager will be responsible for the coordination and direction for the timely and profitable completion of assigned projects. The candidate will communicate job progress through weekly project status reporting.
Responsibilities
- Meet with the general superintendent and assist project superintendents with the project 'office-to-field' handoff meeting.
- Proactively monitor and ensure profitable operations on a project-by-project basis.
- Establish, update, and monitor all project budgets and schedules before the pre-construction conference or handoff meeting is held.
- Perform site visits to all projects to evaluate project status, progress, safety, quality, and profitability.
- Prepare accurate and timely submittals for construction projects based on project drawings and specifications, and administer during the construction process.
- Responsible for timely close-out documents.
- Facilitate the completion of any necessary sub-tiered subcontractor's contracts and verify all pricing, scope, schedule, and insurance are properly accounted.
- Review updated drawings for changes to work and write requests for change orders, as necessary.
- Work with the operations manager to align project resources, schedule, and manpower to achieve desired goals.
Essential Skills
- 2-5 years of construction project management experience.
- 2-year degree, preferably related to construction or civil engineering, OR 2+ years of experience as a construction project manager.
- Must possess leadership and time management qualities to promote a professional attitude.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Basic computer skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- 2-5 years of construction experience (preferably working at a subcontractor or general contractor).
- Familiarity with the lifecycle of a construction building project (Design, procurement, preconstruction, execution, project control, project closeout).
- Project management and project engineering experience.
- Experience with RFIs.
- Bachelor's degree in construction management or civil engineering (preferred).
- Concrete experience (preferred).
Work Environment
This person will spend a majority of their time in the office with occasional site visits as needed. The majority of job sites are within a 2-hour radius of the office. The position requires working 40-50 hours per week, with up to 60 hours during the busy season. The work environment is family-oriented with great tenure, celebrating 75 years in business. The candidate will work directly with and be trained by the Sr. Project Manager/Estimator, with the potential to take over once the Sr. Project Manager/Estimator leaves the workforce.
