Job Title: EMC Test Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated EMC Test Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing RF immunity and emission testing according to international automotive EMC standards. You will also contribute to our projects by reviewing test plans, writing technical reports, and engaging with customers.
Work Environment
This position is onsite in Plymouth, operating on a 2nd shift schedule from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
Responsibilities
- Perform RF immunity and emission testing per international automotive EMC standards and test procedures.
- Review test plans and specifications prior to testing.
- Write technical reports and communicate both orally and in writing with customers.
- Collaborate with Account Executives and Customer Service Administrators to determine customer testing requirements and charges.
- Manage clients' projects, gather pretest information, answer customer questions, and coordinate with sub-contractors.
- Stay updated on the latest EMC design theories, including shielding, filtering, grounding, bonding, cabling, gasketing, waveguides, and PCB layout methods.
- Maintain knowledge of operational procedures for test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, EMC receivers, preamplifiers, quasi-peak adapters, signal/impulse generators, antennas, oscilloscopes, etc.
- Ensure proper calibration and functioning of all test equipment.
- Stay informed about current EMC standards, test procedures, instrumentation, technology, and engineering service capabilities through training and seminars.
- Communicate effectively and courteously with internal and external customers regarding standards, test procedures, and technical recommendations.
- Perform other tasks as directed by the Product Manager/EMC.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency with oscilloscopes and multimeters for EMC and RF testing.
- Experience in test planning and development.
- Data analysis skills, particularly using CAN tools for signal monitoring.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with EMC/RF testing and data analysis.
- Familiarity with compliance and test plan development.
This is a Contract position based out of Plymouth, MI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00/hr.
