Job Title: General Production Worker
Job Description
The General Production Worker supports warehouse and distribution operations by accurately picking orders, replenishing stock, wrapping and labeling pallets, and loading trucks throughout the shift. This role uses a warehouse management system and RF scanners to process pick sheets, handle building materials, and ensure that all incoming and outgoing freight is received, stored, and shipped correctly. The position is physically demanding and requires consistent heavy lifting, frequent bending and squatting, and the ability to work efficiently while maintaining high accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Pick customer orders accurately using pick sheets provided by a supervisor and enter order numbers into RF scan guns based on the designated instructions.
- Replenish stock and wrap pallets securely, ensuring all items are properly stacked, labeled, and prepared for shipment.
- Assist with the receipt, transfer, and storage of incoming freight, including unloading trucks, verifying products against packing lists, and sorting materials by end destination.
- Put away excess stock in the correct warehouse locations in alignment with established processes and inventory standards.
- Use fork trucks, reach trucks, sit-down forklifts, and order picking equipment safely and efficiently to move, stage, and load materials.
- Load outbound transfer trucks with building materials, ensuring products are secured, labeled, and ready for delivery according to the delivery schedule.
- Transfer picked orders to the appropriate staging area for delivery, following all process and documentation requirements.
- Perform material handling tasks such as palletizing, staging, packaging, and general labor to support overall warehouse operations.
- Inspect materials and orders for accuracy and quality, addressing discrepancies or damage according to warehouse procedures.
- Assist in the cleaning and routine maintenance of the warehouse to maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work area.
- Follow all safety guidelines and procedures while operating equipment and handling materials, contributing to a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with team members and communicate openly with supervisors to ensure smooth workflow and timely order fulfillment.
- Meet and maintain established productivity and pick-level expectations, working quickly and accurately to minimize errors.
- Perform other warehouse and general production duties as assigned by the Warehouse Supervisor.
Essential Skills
- At least 1 year of warehouse experience.
- At least 1 year of forklift experience, including a proven track record of safe and reliable operation.
- Ability to operate fork trucks, reach trucks, sit-down forklifts, and order picker equipment.
- Experience with order picking, pick sheets, staging, and loading trucks.
- Ability to use RF scanners and work within a warehouse management or internal ERP system after training.
- Strong basic math skills to understand units, line items, and multiple units per package.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and lift 50 pounds on a consistent basis.
- Physical ability to perform frequent heavy lifting, bending, squatting, and moving products throughout the shift.
- Ability to work approximately 50 hours per week as required by business needs.
- Ability to work quickly, efficiently, and with high accuracy, minimizing errors for customers.
- Enthusiastic, motivated, and reliable work ethic with a willingness to own tasks and meet performance expectations.

- Experience with material handling, palletizing, labeling, and general labor in a warehouse or production environment.
- Experience in general production, inspection, and packaging activities.
- Comfort working with building materials and similar industrial products.
- Ability to adapt to detailed training processes and follow standard operating procedures consistently.

Work Environment
The role is based in a brand-new warehouse facility in Cottage Grove, MN, focused on distributing and manufacturing building materials. The environment includes the use of modern equipment such as fork trucks, reach trucks, sit-down forklifts, order pickers, RF scanners, and a warehouse management or internal ERP system. The building currently does not have heating or air conditioning, so temperatures vary seasonally, with colder conditions in winter and warmer conditions in summer. The company places a strong emphasis on safety and maintains a clean, organized warehouse, with employees participating in regular cleaning and maintenance activities. Work hours typically include extended shifts of around 50 hours per week, and the role involves frequent heavy lifting, bending, squatting, and continuous movement throughout the shift.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
