Job Description:
We are seeking a dependable and hardworking Heavy Equipment Operator / General Laborer to support daily operations at a busy concrete and aggregate facility. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, is comfortable performing physical labor, and is looking to build a long-term career in the construction materials industry.
The role combines general labor, material handling, equipment operation, concrete testing, and yard support responsibilities. Candidates should be eager to learn, follow direction, and contribute to a fast-paced environment focused on safety, quality, and productivity.
Job Duties:
- Perform general yard maintenance, including sweeping, cleaning, and organizing work areas.
- Direct truck traffic throughout the yard to support safe and efficient operations.
- Assist with inventory organization and material handling.
- Perform basic concrete testing in the field and plant environments.
- Support quality control efforts by collecting and recording test data.
- Operate, or train to operate, a front-end loader and other heavy equipment.
- Use hand and power tools to complete a variety of labor-related tasks.
- Perform digging, material handling, and concrete demolition using tools such as jackhammers.
- Assist with daily production and plant operations.
- Complete basic data entry and documentation tasks.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Assist team members with additional duties as needed to support operational goals.
Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of experience working in construction, landscaping, excavation, concrete, aggregate, industrial, or similar outdoor environments.
- Experience operating heavy equipment such as a front-end loader, skid steer, excavator, backhoe, or similar equipment preferred.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, digging, standing, and walking for extended periods.
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality.
- Ability to follow directions and work both independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to work overtime and occasional Saturdays as needed.
- Basic computer and data entry skills.
- Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday 6:00 AM start time
- Typical 10-12 hour shifts
- Occasional Saturday work during peak season
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elk River, MN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $28.00 - $28.00/hr.
