Job Title: Material Handler
Job Description
The Material Handler works across multiple departments within a clean, organized warehouse to support shipping, receiving, and general material handling activities. This role involves frequent movement around the facility, performing tasks such as picking and packing orders, building pallets, operating pallet jacks and forklifts, and loading and unloading trucks. The position requires flexibility, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to accuracy and safety in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Work across various warehouse departments and adapt to changing daily assignments based on operational needs.
- Pick and pack orders accurately using pick sheets to ensure correct items and quantities are prepared for shipment.
- Use RF scanners to locate, verify, and track inventory and order fulfillment throughout the warehouse.
- Build pallets and break down boxes to prepare products for storage or shipment, ensuring loads are secure and organized.
- Operate pallet jacks safely to move materials and finished goods throughout the warehouse.
- Drive reach trucks, stand-up forklifts, sit-down forklifts, and tuggers when required to handle materials and support warehouse operations.
- Load and unload trucks using lifts, pallet jacks, or manual handling as appropriate, maintaining safe lifting and handling practices.
- Support shipping and receiving functions by handling incoming and outgoing materials and ensuring items are properly staged and organized.
- For shipping and receiving assignments, spend additional time at dock doors managing inbound and outbound freight and performing related tasks.
- Use computers and ERP systems (such as Epicor) to enter, update, and verify shipping, receiving, and inventory data when assigned to shipping and receiving.
- Collaborate with production and other departments as needed, cross-training to support different workflows and priorities.
- Maintain a clean, orderly work area and follow all safety procedures and warehouse guidelines.
Essential Skills
- Demonstrated flexibility in working across different departments and adapting to changing tasks on a daily basis.
- Experience working in a warehouse environment with exposure to material handling, distribution, or production activities.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, moving, and stacking materials throughout the shift.
- Comfort with working in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Basic ability to follow written pick sheets and standard operating procedures.
- Willingness to work collaboratively with team members and communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- 1+ year of forklift experience, including operation of reach trucks, stand-up forklifts, sit-down forklifts, or tuggers.
- Experience with shipping and receiving processes in a warehouse or distribution setting.
- Ability to cross-train with production and support production workflows as needed.
- Ability to use a computer for basic data entry and navigation in ERP systems such as Epicor.
- Familiarity with RF scanners for inventory management and order picking.

Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Elk River, MN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.50 - $25.50/hr.
