Job Title: Mechanical Assembler
Job Description
This role involves assembling school furniture, including tables, desks, chairs, and cafeteria units, using hand and power tools in a high-volume production environment. You will work primarily on 2nd shift and initially train on 1st shift, contributing to the manufacturing of durable equipment for educational settings while meeting quality and productivity standards.
Responsibilities
- Assemble tables, desks, chairs, and cafeteria tables for educational facilities using hand and power tools.
- Use power drills, screwdrivers, rivet guns, sockets, wrenches, and other tools to drill, fasten, and secure components such as hinges, legs, and arms.
- Read and interpret tape measurements accurately to ensure correct dimensions and alignment of parts.
- Follow assembly instructions, production guidelines, and any applicable blueprints to complete products to specification.
- Work efficiently on an assembly line, contributing to production targets and maintaining consistent output.
- Inspect assembled components for quality, fit, and finish, making adjustments or rework as needed.
- Assist with packaging assembled products to prepare them for shipping or storage.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including tools and equipment, to support safe and efficient operations.
- Participate in required skills and tape measure testing, and apply those skills consistently on the job.
- Work overtime as needed, including some 10-hour shifts on Fridays during the spring and summer.
Essential Skills
- Strong mechanical inclination and comfort working with mechanical assemblies.
- Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools, including screwdrivers, power drills, rivet guns, sockets, and wrenches.
- Experience in assembly, mechanical assembly, or production environments.
- Ability to follow instructions and basic blueprints or assembly guides.
- Stable work history demonstrating reliability and commitment.
- Ability to pass a tape measure test and a hands-on skills test.
- Capability to perform general labor tasks, including standing for long periods and handling repetitive motions.
- Willingness and ability to work 2nd shift and train on 1st shift as required.
- Ability to work safely and effectively in warm conditions, including extended hours in elevated temperatures.

Work Environment
This position is based in a well-lit manufacturing facility located in a central, easily accessible area. The role is a contract-to-union position, offering the structure and benefits associated with union membership. The standard schedule is 2nd shift, 3:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., Monday through Thursday, with initial training on 1st shift from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. During the spring and summer, you may work up to 10 hours of overtime on some Fridays. The environment can become very warm in the summer months, with temperatures reaching approximately 80–90 degrees, so you should be comfortable working long hours in the heat. You will regularly use hand and power tools such as drills, screwdrivers, rivet guns, sockets, and wrenches at individual stations and on assembly lines. The dress code is typical for a manufacturing setting, prioritizing safety and practicality while working around tools, equipment, and assembled products.\

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.
