Job Title: Sr. Accountant
Job Description
- Manage full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of companies, including both for-profit and non-profit entities.
- Process accounts payable, including reviewing, coding, and entering vendor invoices and preparing payments.
- Handle accounts receivable activities, including billing, recording customer payments, and monitoring outstanding balances.
- Prepare and post journal entries as needed, including recurring, adjusting, and correcting entries.
- Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules, ensuring accurate capitalization and depreciation in accordance with accounting policies.
- Perform bank statement reconciliations to ensure all transactions are accurately recorded and discrepancies are resolved promptly.
- Complete general ledger account reconciliations, including balance sheet and key income statement accounts, to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Lead or support month-end close activities, including accruals, reconciliations, and preparation of supporting schedules.
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timeliness.
- Apply a strong understanding of GAAP and accounting procedures to maintain compliance and improve accounting processes.
- Utilize ERP and accounting software, including systems such as MRI Commercial Real Estate and QuickBooks Online, to record and manage financial data.
- Use advanced Excel functions, including VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables, to analyze data, prepare reports, and support financial reporting.
- Collaborate with team members and leadership in a high-confidentiality environment, maintaining discretion around sensitive financial and executive information.
- Support continuous improvement of accounting processes and controls within a small, collaborative accounting team.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
- 5+ years of general ledger accounting experience.
- Strong experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
- Proficiency in preparing and posting journal entries, including accruals and adjustments.
- Demonstrated experience in bank statement reconciliation and general ledger account reconciliation.
- Proven ability to perform month-end close activities and support financial reporting.
- Advanced understanding of GAAP and standard accounting procedures.
- Experience preparing and interpreting financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Proficiency with ERP or accounting software, with the ability to learn and adapt to new systems.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables.
- Experience working with multiple-entity companies.
- Experience working with both non-profit and for-profit organizations.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Minneapolis, MN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $50.00 - $53.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
