Job Description
This role focuses on insulating, winding, and hooking up exciter armatures and rotors for motors and generators in a clean, quiet production environment. You follow detailed specifications, schematics, and wiring diagrams to ensure proper electrical hookups while applying the correct insulation systems, materials, and techniques. The position involves hands-on work with both hand and power tools, as well as brazing or soldering coil connections, under normal supervision.
Responsibilities
- Insulate, wind, and hook up exciter armatures and rotors for motors and generators according to established methods and procedures.
- Interpret and follow schematics and wiring diagrams to ensure accurate and reliable electrical hookups.
- Recognize specific insulation system requirements and select and apply appropriate materials and techniques.
- Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to complete assembly and hookup tasks.
- Apply brazing or soldering techniques to coil connections, following applicable standards and procedures.
- Obtain and maintain brazing certification in accordance with Mil-STD 248 if required for assigned work.
- Follow written specifications, work instructions, and quality standards to ensure consistent, high-quality output.
- Perform electronic and mechanical assembly tasks as needed to support production requirements.
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings related to motor and generator components.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, supporting a safe and efficient production environment.
- Work under normal supervision, seeking guidance when needed and collaborating with team members to meet production goals.
- Perform other duties as designated by the supervisor within the same salary grade or below to support overall operations.
- Minimum of 1 year of assembly experience in a production, manufacturing, or related environment.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints for electrical and mechanical assemblies.
- Proficiency in basic assembly techniques, including electronic assembly and mechanical assembly tasks.
- Hands-on experience using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Skill in soldering and willingness to perform brazing operations on coil connections.
- Ability to follow detailed methods, procedures, and specifications with strong attention to detail.
- Capacity to learn and apply trade techniques and procedures through on-the-job training, with an understanding that approximately 6,000 hours of experience are required to acquire basic skills.
- A vocational or high school education or equivalent.
- Ability to work assigned shifts reliably and maintain consistent attendance.
- Experience with electronic assembly in a manufacturing or production setting.
- Familiarity with insulation systems for motors and generators and the materials used in these applications.
- Brazing certification in accordance with Mil-STD 248 or willingness to obtain certification if required.
- Strong manual dexterity and fine motor skills for precise winding, insulating, and hookup work.
- Ability to work independently under normal supervision while also collaborating effectively with team members.
- Comfort working on projects that support military applications, following applicable standards and procedures.

Work Environment
You work on an open production floor with great lighting, designed to support precision work and attention to detail. The facility is very clean and quiet, providing a comfortable and focused environment for assembly, winding, and hookup tasks. You use a variety of hand tools, power tools, and soldering or brazing equipment as part of your daily responsibilities. Multiple shifts are available, including a 1st shift from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, a 2nd shift from 4:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. Monday through Thursday, and a 4th weekend shift from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday through Sunday. The unionized setting supports structured work practices and clear progression based on hours worked.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $51126.00 - $65368.00/yr.
