We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to focus on the mechanical design and documentation for customer products and related tooling. The role involves developing designs that support both customer and internal manufacturing requirements.
Responsibilities- Develop basic drawings of components and assemblies.
- Perform engineering computations and write/edit specifications.
- Create modified designs for new or existing products and tooling.
- Verify completed work, checking dimensions, materials, and quantities per the verification plan.
- Interact with vendors to ensure proper fabrication of mechanical components for products, testers, and tooling.
- Create and maintain basic engineering drawings.
- Assist in the assembly of tooling, test fixtures, and prototypes.
- Perform drafting and design duties such as tolerance analysis, material selection, and selection of fabrication methods.
- Provide assistance to hardware, software, PCB design, functional test, and ICT test for product, test, and tooling development.
- Contact and work with hardware, software, and equipment vendors.
- Follow project plans and report project status to leadership.
- Assist in project proposals and associated cost estimates.
- Assist with DFX reviews and create necessary documentation.
- Develop an understanding of Design For Excellence philosophy and promote it with customers.
- Communicate with customer technical personnel regarding technical issues.
- Communicate technical challenges and work with leadership to create and implement solutions.
- Work with customers to understand requirements regarding mechanical design.
- Work with Sustaining Engineering to assist in the development of products leveraging internal manufacturing and test processes.
- Assist in the development of advanced/new technologies.
- Participate in research for new design methods and tools.
- Assist in the coordination of mechanical engineering strategies for customers.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities with documentation, including a follow-up review with the team in a presentation format.

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of ROCHESTER, MN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $45.00 - $70.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
