Job Description
The Quality Inspector ensures that wire harness and cable assemblies consistently meet customer, regulatory, and internal quality standards. This role requires strong attention to detail, technical aptitude, and clear communication to support close collaboration with Quality, Engineering, and Production teams. The position focuses on inspecting assemblies, interpreting technical documentation, and maintaining accurate quality records while working with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
- Perform detailed inspection of wire harness and cable assemblies across multiple programs to verify conformance to drawings, specifications, and workmanship standards.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, wire diagrams, and customer requirements to validate product compliance.
- Use inspection tools and equipment such as calipers, micrometers, CMM equipment, scales, tape measures, and other gauges to perform precise measurements.
- Conduct visual inspections, including microscope inspections, to verify product quality, soldering, and workmanship.
- Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, including IPC/WHMA-A-620, IPC-610, ANSI/J-STD-001, and other relevant IPC standards as applicable.
- Identify and document nonconformances, defects, and deviations from specifications, and communicate findings clearly to Quality and Manufacturing Engineering teams.
- Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance inspection processes, efficiency, and consistency.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and organized inspection records, reports, and documentation in accordance with internal procedures.
- Collaborate effectively with inspectors, engineers, production personnel, and customers as needed to resolve quality issues and support production goals.
- Cross-train to inspect a variety of assemblies and support multiple programs and product lines as business needs evolve.
- Follow work instructions, standard operating procedures, and quality guidelines while working independently with minimal supervision.
- Participate in final inspection activities to ensure products meet all quality requirements prior to shipment.
- Support adherence to quality control (QC), quality assurance (QA), and good manufacturing practice (GMP) principles throughout the inspection process.
- Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area in alignment with electronics manufacturing best practices.
- Experience in wire harness or cable assembly manufacturing preferred, with hands-on exposure to wire harnesses and wire harness assemblies.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, wire diagrams, and specifications.
- Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620 and ANSI/J-STD-001 standards preferred, with working knowledge of IPC-610 and other IPC guidelines.
- Understanding of military specifications and customer-specific requirements is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word, with the ability to learn new software systems.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a thorough approach to quality control and inspection.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work under a microscope for extended periods while maintaining accuracy and focus.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and follow established procedures.
- Reliable attendance and flexibility to work overtime as required to meet production and quality needs.
- Practical experience with quality control, quality assurance, quality inspection, and quality checks in a manufacturing environment.
- Competence in using inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, CMM equipment, and other measurement devices for precise inspection.
- Comfort working within GMP and structured quality systems in an electronics manufacturing setting.
- Previous experience in electronics manufacturing or related industries involving wire harnesses and cable assemblies.
- Exposure to final inspection processes and acceptance criteria for electronics or harness assemblies.
- Familiarity with visual inspection techniques and standards for soldering, crimping, and assembly workmanship.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and support multiple programs or product lines.
- Strong problem-solving mindset with an interest in supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
- Comfort using digital tools and databases to record inspection data and generate reports.

Work Environment
The role is based in a climate-controlled electronics manufacturing facility that is clean, organized, and designed to support precision work. You will work with inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, CMM equipment, microscopes, and other measurement devices, as well as computer systems and Microsoft Office applications. The typical shift starts at 5:00 or 6:00 a.m., consists of 10-hour workdays from Monday through Thursday, with additional work on Fridays as needed for overtime or production demands. The environment emphasizes adherence to quality standards, good manufacturing practices, and safe, orderly workspaces.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $26.00 - $30.00/hr.
