Job Title: Commercial Finish / Interior Carpenter
Job Description
This role focuses on commercial finish and interior carpentry, with responsibility for installing plywood backing, hanging drywall, and installing FRP panels in commercial construction settings.
Responsibilities
- Install plywood backing by cutting and mounting plywood to metal studs according to project specifications and blueprints.
- Install blocking for cabinets, equipment, handrails, and other fixtures to ensure secure and accurate placement.
- Measure, cut, and hang drywall on metal studs, ensuring proper alignment, fastening, and surface preparation.
- Install FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic) panels, including spreading adhesive, cutting FRP sheets, and fitting panels accurately.
- Install corner trims and divider trims for FRP panels to achieve a clean, durable, and professional finish.
- Roll FRP panels onto drywall surfaces to ensure proper adhesion and a uniform appearance.
- Read and interpret blueprints and construction documents to plan and execute carpentry tasks correctly.
- Use tape measures and other measuring tools to ensure precise cuts, layouts, and installations.
- Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently for cutting, fastening, and finishing materials.
- Perform finish carpentry and trim work, including doors, cabinetry, and other interior components as required.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 3+ years of commercial construction experience.
- Proficiency in commercial finish and interior carpentry, including both rough and finish carpentry.
- Ability to install plywood backing and blocking on metal studs for cabinets, equipment, and handrails.
- Strong drywall skills, including measuring, cutting, and hanging drywall on metal studs.
- Experience installing FRP panels, including adhesive application, panel cutting, and trim installation.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction plans accurately.
- Proficient with hand and power tools commonly used in carpentry and construction.
- Experience with doors, cabinetry installation, and trim work in commercial environments.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in a variety of commercial construction projects, including interior build-outs.
- Background in both rough carpentry and finish carpentry for commercial spaces.
- Familiarity with metal stud framing and installation techniques.
- Ability to read and follow detailed instructions and project specifications.
- Capability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to changing site conditions.
- Reliable work habits and consistent punctuality.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kansas City, MO.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr.
