Job Title: Buyer
Job Description
We are looking for a motivated Buyer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the inventory and the flow of the buying process, both internally and externally. The role involves using the ERP system Syspro, communicating with suppliers, and ensuring timely delivery of materials for production needs.
Responsibilities
- Analyze daily requirements to determine materials needs and execute purchase orders to satisfy demand schedules.
- Maintain accurate delivery information on open purchase orders through supplier acknowledgements.
- Expedite material delivery where necessary for production and service.
- Continually review stocking levels for each item to provide targeted service levels.
- Communicate with suppliers to best support the inventory plan and provide timely delivery for production needs.
- Regularly update backlog status reports and communicate with customer service expected delivery for customer orders.
- Review and recommend disposition of all excess and obsolete inventory.
- Perform root cause analysis of service outliers to identify and implement improvements in the overall process.
Essential Skills
- Purchasing, Procurement, Supply chain, Buyer purchasing, Negotiation.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college preferred.
- 5 years of Buyer/Planner experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience with MRP material related system.
- Proficient in the use of computer applications Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
- Ability to read blueprints, good mathematical aptitude, and knowledge of quality assurance philosophies, practices, and techniques.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact and clearly communicate with other functional areas of the organization, management, and suppliers.
- Understanding of LEAN techniques including material pull systems.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Effective presentation of information and ability to respond to questions from managers, employees, and customers.
- Purchase order, Inventory, Buying experience, Microsoft Excel, Purchasing experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Syspro experience is preferred but not required.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time.
- Go-getter mentality.
- Organizational skills.
- Familiarity with Nordco equipment is a plus.
Work Environment
The position requires being in the office every day, Monday through Friday, from 8 AM to 5 PM. The role starts as a 6-month contract, with the possibility of extension or permanent hire based on performance.
