Job Title: Medical Assistant

Job Description

This position functions as a Medical Assistant within the department, focusing on preparing and maintaining exam rooms, preparing charts, obtaining reports and records, assisting with patient flow, and ensuring the overall smooth running of the clinical office.

Responsibilities

• Interact directly with patients in a clinical setting and complete clinical tasks, including obtaining vital signs, performing phlebotomy, and verifying medications.
• Prepare for office hours by completing tasks such as obtaining charts, scheduling tests, and preparing exam rooms.
• Assist with laboratory tests and other patient care duties.
• Ability to take vitals, perform EKG, and engage in charting and electronic medical record management

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• CCMA through NHA or RMA through AMT
• BLS
• Two years or more of Medical Assistant experience.
• Experience with electronic medical records.
• Strong interactive communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with physicians, patients, families, significant others, and support staff.
• Proficiency in interpersonal, organizational, and telephone skills.
• Working knowledge of anatomy and physiology, fundamentals of medical terminology, and experience/knowledge in electronic medical records.

Work Environment

The work schedule is Monday through Friday, from either 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM or 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. This position is within a primary care setting with 8 providers and involves cross-training on both front and back office duties.
