Job Title: Reach Truck Operator (Food Distrubution Center)
Job Description
This role focuses on safely operating reach trucks and related warehouse equipment to unload freight, move palletized materials, and replenish inventory in a large, high-volume distribution center. You work an early-morning shift from 3:00 a.m. until the end of production, typically around 11:30 a.m., with scheduled off days that will be confirmed on your first day. You support order selectors by ensuring product is accurately stored, moved, and staged using RF scanning technology.
Responsibilities
- Operate reach trucks, deep reach trucks, and stand-up forklifts safely and efficiently in a busy warehouse environment.
- Unload freight shipments using reach trucks and transport palletized materials to designated locations throughout the warehouse.
- Use RF scanners installed on the trucks to accurately identify, scan, and record product locations and movements.
- Perform put ups by unloading and placing palletized materials into appropriate racking and storage areas.
- Carry out replenishment tasks by moving skids from higher racking down to lower racking so order selectors can pick orders.
- Maintain a strong focus on safety while operating equipment and moving materials in room-temperature and refrigerated areas.
- Work independently to meet production metrics related to accuracy, speed, and efficiency.
- Follow warehouse processes and procedures to ensure inventory accuracy and timely order fulfillment.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with coworkers and leaders, responding professionally to feedback.
- Support a clean, organized, and efficient distribution center by keeping work areas orderly and reporting any issues with equipment or inventory.
Essential Skills
- Proven experience operating reach trucks or deep reach trucks in a warehouse environment (required).
- Demonstrated commitment to safety as a top priority in all material handling activities.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-volume warehouse setting.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to meet deadlines and maintain accuracy standards.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others and handle feedback and difficult situations in a professional manner.
- Comfort using RF scanners and related warehouse technology to track inventory and productivity.
- Capability to operate stand-up forklifts and similar material handling equipment.
- Willingness to work in refrigerated temperatures as well as ambient, non-climate-controlled areas.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience using crown reach truck forklifts or similar equipment.
- Experience in order picking or working alongside order selectors in a distribution center.
- Familiarity with production metrics that measure accuracy, speed, and efficiency.
- Ability to adapt to changing workload demands and production schedules.

Work Environment
You work in a 1 million square foot distribution center that handles grocery items for regional stores, featuring both room-temperature and refrigerated areas. The dry side of the warehouse is ambient and non–climate controlled, while other sections operate at refrigerated temperatures, and you must be willing to work in both conditions. The facility is highly organized and clean for a distribution center, supporting safe and efficient operations. Your shift runs from 3:00 a.m. until production ends, typically around 11:30 a.m., with off days assigned as either Tuesday/Wednesday or Wednesday/Thursday and confirmed on your first day. You use reach trucks, deep reach trucks, stand-up forklifts, RF scanners, and headsets as part of the daily workflow. The break area is comfortable and well-equipped, with open vending options monitored by security cameras and occasional vending bucks provided as rewards for strong performance.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Saint Louis, MO.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
