Job Title: Lead Quality Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Quality Engineer to lead the development and implementation of quality systems at our Kings Mountain location. The successful candidate will ensure exceptional product standards, compliance, and continuous improvement, driving customer satisfaction and operational excellence. You will be responsible for planning, developing, implementing, communicating, and improving Quality Management Systems, adhering to internal standards and ISO 9001 & IATF requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead quality-related problem-solving and root cause analysis in manufacturing, including scrap management and customer complaint resolutions.
- Minimize the cost of product waste by standardizing processes and acceptance criteria.
- Ensure Customer PPAP, First Articles, and Product Certifications are prioritized and submitted timely.
- Assist with product changes and deviation requests.
- Lead the internal audits process.
- Own and report performance on Quality KPIs during quarterly Plant Quality Board meetings and yearly Management Reviews.
- Coordinate ISO 9001 audit certifications and surveillance audits.
- Provide training on Quality Awareness and ISO 9001 certification requirements.
- Drive Customer Complaint tracking to closure.
- Participate in cross-functional teams to address process changes and improvements.
- Report key supplier quality issues and work with purchasing to improve supplier performance.
- Represent the company in third-party audits.
- Respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or associates.
- Effectively present information to top management, customers, suppliers, and manufacturing staff.
Essential Skills
- 2-5 years of experience in a Quality management function.
- Experience in Tier 1 Automotive manufacturing is a plus.
- Internal and second-party auditing experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, or a related field.
- ASQ certified quality engineer or Quality Manager certification.
- Knowledge of core tools: PPAP, SPC, APQP, MSA, FMEA.
- Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Charlotte, NC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
