Job Title: Mechanical Drafter


Job Description

Join our dynamic engineering team as a Mechanical Drafter, where you will play a crucial role in creating, completing, and maintaining 3D models, detailed assembly and part drawings, and Bill of Materials (BOM) to support engineering, manufacturing, and estimation activities. Your contributions will span various project stages, ensuring high quality and precision throughout.


Responsibilities

  • Develop 3D CAD based models of components and assemblies to support quoting and production activities.
  • Create comprehensive engineering drawing packages for projects to facilitate production activities on the floor.
  • Edit and maintain engineering models and drawing packages throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring proper revision control.
  • Update and maintain drawing BOMs and Material BOMs in Apogee.
  • Produce simple to complex models, illustrations, and drawings in accordance with company standards from data, sketches, or verbal communication.
  • Store and retrieve technical documents within Autodesk Vault.
  • Manage the drawing approval and lifecycle process using Autodesk Vault.
  • Maintain CAD symbol libraries in Vault.
  • Create and maintain part symbols, part models, and sub-assemblies in CAD, ensuring proper naming convention and attributes population.
  • Create bills of material consisting of fittings, hardware, and custom brackets.
  • Follow and enforce company drawing standards and modeling best practices.
  • Effectively manage multiple design projects concurrently.
  • Support manufacturing activities as required.
  • Ensure high quality standards and provide accurate data entry.

Essential Skills

  • 3D modeling and design expertise.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, and Autodesk Vault.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Capability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent graphical, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio.
  • Working knowledge of industry drafting and design standards.
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical CAD drawings and hydraulic schematic drawings.
  • Experience in manufacturing, fabrication, machine design, and system layouts.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
  • 3-5 years of related experience and/or training.
  • Experience with 3D CAD, preferably Autodesk Inventor 2016 or later.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic fittings selection and application.
  • CNC programming/process knowledge is a plus.
  • Experience with FEA analysis tools is a plus.

Work Environment

The role is primarily based in an office setting, with frequent collaboration required at the manufacturing site across the street. The noise level is usually moderate, with some exposure to moving mechanical parts. Flexible hours and a hybrid schedule are available, allowing for two days of remote work per week.
