Job Title: Product Engineer


Job Description

Plans, coordinates, and performs product design, testing, and/or analysis work for a complete project of moderate scope or for a significant portion or sub-system of a major and diverse project. Operates in a team environment, providing input to design solutions and participating in design reviews. May assign, coordinate, and review portions of the work to support personnel. Decisions are made within established guidelines and may be reviewed by supervisors.


Responsibilities

  • Execute high-level applications to more complex problems.
  • Analyze assignments and determine engineering specifications which must be fulfilled for complex problems or projects of moderate scope.
  • Produce and/or evaluate possible design solutions to improve cost, quality, and performance based on specialized knowledge of engineering applications.
  • Compile and furnish necessary information (engineering decisions and reports of pertinent design analyses data) to document the design solution required for building prototypes and adopting the design.
  • Provide technical support to marketing, manufacturing, quality, and supply management organizations.
  • Develop and/or execute test or analysis plans for product verification and validation.
  • Apply knowledge of company products, policies, and practices to provide economies through standardization of parts.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of experience with Creo/Pro E.
  • Minimum 2 years of product design experience.
  • Ability to work on smaller projects independently.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to develop cross-functional relationships.
  • Experience with Microsoft suite of products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Good understanding of project scheduling.
  • Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • SAP experience is a plus.
  • Capable of physical assembly and/or repair of equipment.
  • Previous experience with Deere is preferred but not required.
  • Experience in casting design and plastics design.

Work Environment

Responsible for subsystem design (parts modeling in Creo, drawings for prototype shop or suppliers) for a manual and autonomous battery electric commercial mower. Support designs with calculations, virtual analysis, decision analysis, and feedback from others. Integrate knowledge of product usage into design to improve customer experience. Work daily with the product design team as well as other functional areas like Marketing, Program Management, Test Engineers, Systems Engineers, etc. Provide hands-on support for machine builds and upgrades in the shop or get assistance from the shop for certain tasks with work orders. May provide in-field support when machines are provided to Marketing for customer feedback. Metatarsals are required for the first day.
