Job Title: Project Manager- Equipment Installation


Job Description

The Technical Facilities Lead Project Manager role is responsible for the comprehensive execution of projects from concept through handover. This includes front-end planning and definition to translate requirements into project scope, budget development, and execution strategy, with continued leadership to carry projects from design through construction. The projects are implemented largely via an EPC delivery model, requiring experience with all delivery models. The role demands a solid understanding of project management tools and approaches to manage complex multi-disciplinary projects and the social skills needed to lead diverse and dynamic teams. This position assists in delivering project objectives through successful projects and internal/external relationships, consistently meeting expectations by managing projects to balance scope, time, cost, and quality.


Responsibilities

  • Balance the big picture with details, managing the full project scope.
  • Use systematic, proven processes to organize work, set priorities, and determine resource requirements.
  • Plan, schedule, and direct work of self and others, balancing task requirements and individual abilities.
  • Implement projects following a gated process, utilizing industry best practices and metrics for improving safety, cost, schedule, and quality.
  • Engage and utilize a team to accomplish plans and resolve unexpected problems.
  • Build knowledge of the business organization and objectives to anticipate and address internal needs, translating opportunities to solutions.
  • Manage day-to-day interactions while creating trust, rapport, and a collaborative partnership.
  • Take initiative and execute objectives, dealing with conflict constructively and creatively.
  • Foster deep and sustainable relationships, deliver on promises, and manage expectations.
  • Provide trusted and credible advice and guidance, working independently with minimal guidance to deliver high-quality results.
  • Communicate accurate project status, identify issues, and implement mitigation measures to ensure the project stays on time and budget.
  • Orchestrate and manage project scope/budget development to compile accurate and complete project budgets.
  • Lead and develop project risk analysis with the team, including mitigation strategies and actions.
  • Develop, analyze, and interpret change management to support project success, understanding the ramifications and implications of change impacts.
  • Maintain financial discipline of fund release in accordance with supplier contracts and project gates.
  • Prepare and maintain preliminary overall project schedules encompassing all project implementation elements from preliminary design through construction.
  • Understand schedule complexities, monitor progress, and provide insight to forecast and mitigate problems before they occur.
  • Demonstrate strength of character, influence teams, and act as a credible role model.
  • Empower and inspire others while creating accountability and coaching and mentoring team members.

Essential Skills

  • A minimum of five years of industrial processes design experience with an overall technical understanding in process, mechanical, electrical, controls, civil/structural/architectural design.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Excel, and specialized project management software applications.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or chemical engineering with a minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible project design, execution, and management experience.
  • Experience managing EPC type projects with a demonstrated progressive career path showing increased skills and abilities.
  • Understanding at a level commensurate with leading a multidiscipline technical team.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Membership in construction management organizations (PMI, CII, CMAA, etc.) including committee participation and certifications is desired.

Work Environment

The role involves updating test equipment in a test lab and layout of facility-capital projects. The environment requires the use of advanced technologies and project management tools to ensure successful project execution.
