Job Description
The Maintenance Technician installs, maintains, and repairs a wide range of industrial machinery and facility equipment, including forklifts, scales, hoists, tools, and production machines. This role performs both preventive and emergency maintenance on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and HVAC systems while ensuring safe work practices and accurate documentation of all maintenance activities.
Responsibilities
- Install, assemble, test, and repair machines and facility equipment such as forklifts, scales, hoists, tools, and production machinery.
- Perform preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and HVAC systems to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues using electrical schematics, PLC troubleshooting techniques, and mechanical knowledge.
- Conduct emergency repairs on machinery and facility systems to restore operations safely and efficiently.
- Use testing devices, hand tools, and power tools safely and correctly during maintenance and repair activities.
- Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical documentation to guide installation and repair work.
- Perform plumbing and carpentry tasks as needed to support facility maintenance and equipment installations.
- Operate shop equipment, including lathes, mills, arc welders, and acetylene torches, to fabricate or repair parts and components.
- Service and maintain three-phase power and electrical systems, ensuring proper operation and safety.
- Maintain and repair hydraulic systems and service power transmission components to keep equipment running reliably.
- Document calibrations, inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance work accurately and in a timely manner.
- Follow all safety rules, procedures, and lockout/tagout requirements while working on equipment and systems.
- Communicate clearly with supervisors and team members regarding equipment status, repair timelines, and maintenance needs.
- Contribute to maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient maintenance work area.
- Proven experience in troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic equipment issues.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics.
- Hands-on experience with electrical work, including three-phase power and electrical systems.
- PLC troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve control system issues.
- Mechanical aptitude, including experience with power transmission components and rotating equipment.
- Experience with welding and fabrication for repair and maintenance tasks.
- Knowledge of HVAC systems and ability to perform maintenance and repairs.
- Proficiency in plumbing and carpentry related to facility and equipment maintenance.
- Ability to safely operate shop equipment such as lathes, mills, arc welders, and acetylene torches.
- Skilled in the safe and correct use of testing devices, hand tools, and power tools.
- Strong attention to detail for documenting calibrations, inspections, and maintenance work.
- Clear verbal communication skills to coordinate with supervisors and team members.
- Commitment to following safety rules, procedures, and best practices in an industrial environment.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial maintenance environment.
- Background in servicing forklifts, scales, hoists, and similar industrial equipment.
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and maintenance documentation systems.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and prioritize multiple maintenance tasks.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying potential equipment issues.
- Flexibility to work a rotating schedule after training, including extended shifts.

Work Environment
You will train on a Monday–Friday schedule from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for approximately six months, then transition to a 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. 2-2-3 rotation. The facility is non-climate controlled but maintains a room-temperature environment and is described as very clean and well organized. You will work in an industrial setting with access to shop equipment such as lathes, mills, arc welders, acetylene torches, and a variety of testing devices, hand tools, and power tools, following established safety procedures throughout your shift.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hudson, NC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr.
