Job Title: Structural Engineer II


Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Structural Engineer II to join our Structural Engineering Department in Raleigh, NC. The role involves performing structural engineering analysis and design services across various markets, including commercial and wireless telecommunications industries.


Responsibilities

  • Perform structural analysis and design using manual calculations and software tools.
  • Develop in-house tools for analysis, design, and report automation.
  • Provide CAD support for structural design drawings and assist other departments.
  • Coordinate with field personnel for structure mapping and inspection projects.
  • Prepare engineering reports with recommendations for commercial and telecommunications structures.
  • Review jurisdictional and local agency requirements for structural analysis, design, and construction.
  • Communicate with clients on design needs and production deadlines.
  • Review and perform QA/QC on tasks completed by other engineering and technical staff.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency with commercial tower analysis software such as tnxTower.
  • Familiarity with finite-element software like RISA 3D.
  • Knowledge of foundation analysis and design software.
  • Competent use of visual calculation software such as MathCAD.
  • Experience with AutoCAD 2012 or later.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
  • Programming experience with Visual Basic for Applications and other object-oriented languages.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • One to two years of experience in structural engineering or related fields.
  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Intermediate knowledge of tower and foundation reinforcement methods.
  • Experience in wireless telecommunication structure analysis and design.
  • Understanding of structure mapping and inspection techniques.
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited institution.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) or Engineering Intern (EI) certification preferred.

Work Environment

This role offers the opportunity to work with an established tower and telecommunications firm while also exploring projects in renewables and data centers. Approximately 5% travel is required.
