**CNC Machine Operator - Night Shift**
This role focuses on setting up and operating CNC turning centers and mills to produce high-precision industrial bearings used in power distribution and coolant systems for data centers. The position is on the night shift and involves working with metal components, maintaining very tight tolerances, and interpreting detailed blueprints to ensure all parts meet exact specifications.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC turning centers to machine metal industrial bearings according to detailed engineering drawings.
- Operate both CNC mills and CNC lathes to produce components that meet strict dimensional and quality requirements.
- Read and interpret blueprints to determine machining operations, dimensions, tolerances, and tooling requirements.
- Maintain very fine tolerances in accordance with drawing requirements and adjust machine settings as needed to ensure accuracy.
- Use micrometers (up to 25 inches), calipers, and other precision measuring instruments to inspect parts and verify dimensions.
- Monitor machine operations throughout the shift, identify issues, and make necessary adjustments to maintain consistent quality.
- Handle and machine parts, including bearings weighing up to approximately 50 pounds, in a safe and controlled manner.
- Apply strong math skills to calculate dimensions, offsets, and machine parameters for accurate machining.
- Assist with basic CNC program edits or adjustments using G and M codes as needed to improve part quality or efficiency.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area and follow all shop safety procedures and guidelines.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to resolve machining issues and continuously improve processes.
Essential Skills
- Proven experience as a CNC machine operator or CNC machinist working with metal components.
- Hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC turning centers.
- Ability to operate both CNC mills and CNC lathes in a production environment.
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
- Demonstrated capability to maintain very fine tolerances per drawing requirements.
- Proficiency using micrometers (up to 25 inches), calipers, and other precision measuring tools.
- Solid math skills to support accurate measurements, calculations, and machine adjustments.
- Experience working with industrial bearings or similar precision components is highly beneficial.
- Willingness and ability to work a night shift schedule.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- G and M code experience for CNC programming or program editing is preferred.
- Experience performing CNC machine setups, including tooling and fixture changes.
- Experience operating a variety of CNC equipment, including mills and lathes.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing environment producing components for power distribution, coolant systems, or similar applications.
- General CNC operator or machinist qualifications and training.
